So I'm watching Moana for the first time and I'd just like to say that I really appreciate that opening scene where she helps the baby sea turtle get to the ocean safely with the leaf and all that without super interfering with it. Like way to teach kids to treat wild animals right. So many kids movies glorify the 'adorable animal mascot' archetype and it drives me nuts. I mean I even remember fucking with caterpillars, frogs, turtles, lizards etc. as a kid. Don't get me wrong I love kids interacting / exploring with nature but like, I definitely didn't always do it with respect for the creatures and I definitely caused harm, even the death of the poor lil guys sometimes. Anyway point is, don't glorify unrealistically cuddly animal mascots. Dog? Sure. Cat? Whatever. But fuck the forest creature sidekicks cause kids WILL buy into that, and worst case scenario try to catch one for themselves. Let's avoid accidental animal cruelty 🐀🐇🐦🐢 ** Disclaimer! Animal rehabilitation is super cool plus there are exceptions if they're raised in captivity or whatever. Basically just treat animals right. Sorry 4 ramble
