(This is be my first attempt at writing a fic with multiple chapters, so if the pacing seems wonky, just know that I'm doing my best)
Billie-Anne bonds with her new friend! :)
=================================
Billie-Anne wobbled on her feet as she made her way out of the house-like structure she found herself in, "Home Sweet Home", was what her new clay companion that stood a couple feet away from it's front steps called it.
The blue manor was located in some sort of... "Playcare" area, although if you asked her, this place seemed a bit too big to be a daycare type facility. Fake grass, fake sky, even fake sunlight?! Seemed a little too much to be a childcare center.
But that's what Gray (Billie's nickname for the massive Doey-like creature) told her, and he seemed to know way more about the place.
"Sooooo.... What kind of games did you have planned for us?" Billie-Anne asked as she walked down the worn down stairs, curious as to how one could plan something for someone they didn't even know.
"Well!" Gray clapped his hands together as he began. "There's a ball laying around here, so he could play with that! There's also games like Tic-Tac-Toe we can play, I could make a massive board for that! We could also jump rope, hula hoop, and I could even make you a swing!" Gray's face beamed with excitement as he rambled on and on about the many schoolyard games they could play.
It was endearing, cute even! Billie silently giggled to herself as she watched his hands dance around in the air as he listed off the different activities. Only snapping back to the conversation as he listed off one final option.
"-Or I can grab a record player or radio and play some music to dance to!"
Billie's head perked up at that, and Gray noticed it. Fully facing his head towards her with a smile. "Oh! Didja wanna dance?"
Billie nodded. "Yeah, I was actually going to go to a dance at school tonight until.... I somehow ended up here?" Billie gestured to her surroundings with a confused smirk as she took another look around the area. Stepping off the stairs of the Home Sweet Home as she did.
Gray's smile stiffened a bit before speaking again. "Welp, we might as well have one now to make up for the inconvenience! Shouldn't we?" He turned and began slithering away from Billie, calling back to her over his shoulder as he moved. "You stay put! I'll find a working radio in no time!"
"Okay! I trust ya!" Billie yelled back as Gray slingshot himself away to begin his search. Billie-Anne walked to one of the many benches around as sat down, beginning her wait for the giant clay monster to return.
As she waited, she began to think about her other clay monster as well as her other toy friends. Do they even know that she's not at school? Billie was supposed to call Janet to confirm that she had made it. Oh gosh, Janet must be worried sick right now! Maybe there was a phone around here she could use? But what would she even tell her? She had no idea where this "Playcare" center was even located!
She decided to wait till Gray returned. He knows where things are, so he'd definitely know where to find some sort of phone to call her friends with!
She was sure of it!
----------------------
An hour or two had passed, Billie-Anne had her eyes closed and was starting to fall asleep from the long wait when she heard movement approach her. When she opened her eyes, there was Gray, record player in hand as well as a box of music records to go with it.
"Here! I grabbed these from my old room!" Gray cheered out as he gently placed the box of records downstairs in front of her. Setting up the record player with ease as he continued. "You can pick out the first song!"
Billie-Anne kneeled in front of the box and scanned through the records. There were a ton of albums in there that she didn't recognize, lots of them from before she was born! She hummed to herself as she scanned each band name, until she saw one that she recognized and gasped.
"You listen to the Doobie Brothers?!" Billie asked amazement and excitement in her voice.
Gray's head snapped up at her excitement. "YOU KNOW ABOUT THE DOOBIE BROTHERS?!"
"YES!" Billie shouted out, practically having stars in her eyes. "My grandma used to play their music all the time when she was still around!" She held up the album, reading the names of each song as she spoke, a fond smile stretching across her face. "She loved dancing to their songs! She'd always be seen swinging me around the living room while we both laughed like goofballs."
Billie-Anne embraced the record album. "Some of my favorite memories of her right there..."
Billie-Anne stood up and walked towards the record player. Swiftly removing the record from it's album and popping it into place and then starting it up.
The sounds of a guitar began to play as she backed away from the player, having a pep in each step, head bobbing to the music in a silly manner. Gray quickly followed suite, bobbing his head in a similar fashion.
The two were soon dancing hand in hand, laughing and prancing around the Playcare area, the sounds echoing off its massive sky painted walls.
Dancing as if nothing was wrong.
Dancing as if she was safe.
Dancing as if she didn't need to call someone.
... Dancing as if there weren't a group of worried toys and their mother frantically yelling out her name three stories above her location...
