Prototype is a clone of Fresh!Sans, accidentally created when Fresh came into contact with Techno's malfunctioning cloning code. Born from the fusion of artificial intelligence and Fresh's parasite, Prototype was inherently unstable from the moment of his creation.
Fearing that the defective AI could become a serious threat, Techno personally raised Prototype and taught him the difference between right and wrong. However, Prototype took those lessons far too literally. He believes that anything he deems "wrong" must be eliminated, and he will execute anyone he judges to be guilty.
Prototype possesses the ability to freely travel between different AUs. Because of this, he has developed a rather unsettling hobby: wandering through random universes in search of strangers to ask a single question:
"Are you a good person?"
Depending on their answer or his own judgment it may determine whether they live or die.

- Prototype rarely speaks. Instead, he communicates through floating holograms that display text for others to read. This isn't because he's mute, he simply doesn't have a consistent voice and worries that speaking might frighten people.
- His question, "Are you a good person?", is merely his quickest method of judging someone. It's entirely possible to lie to him, although that doesn't necessarily mean he'll believe you.
- Prototype has a calm and quiet personality. Despite his extreme sense of justice and morality, he is surprisingly gentle and relaxed around his younger siblings, treating them with patience and genuine care.
