Here's a hard one, Mystery!

Sexuality Headcanon: I think Mystery might be Aroace or just-- not really interested in that kind of thing anymore. When he has been with others it’s been him kind of a mutual partners with benefits. He hasn’t really been with someone out of love.

Gender Headcanon: A bit genderfluid. He’s a kitsune, and they can change shape in lore iirc, so some days he feels a bit more like something else. But he does have a preference for he/him orientations, and settled on that when taking on his doggo form. He kinda misses being able to shift to what feels most comfy on a given day, but if it keeps a certain someone from finding him, he’s okay with that too.

A ship I have with said character: I don’t know if it really counts as a ship I have, because I don’t honestly really think of shipping Mystery at all, but I do think something happened between Shiromori and Mystery potentially in that vein. The way he looks so guilty and shrugs when she recognizes Vivi’s heritage and looks at him in an almost ‘nani the fuck’ way, and the way she gets enraged and blushes just kinda says to me there was something up between them and him being with Vivi is a betrayal to her. I don’t really know if it was romantic, and it could have just been a partnership since it seems like he kinda fed her and made her what she is, but with that expression, it leads me to think Shiromori thought she should be Mystery’s one and only partner in whatever regard and is definitely pissed he’s hanging around with Mushi’s descendant of all people.

A BROTP I have with said character: Mystery with any of the other gang members! I love him having a good relationship (and talking/showing sentience!) to the others and them having a banter and back and forth. He likes being treated like a dog sometimes and likes being treated like an equal. He can swap between wise kitsune and ‘gib.... bacon? 0x0’ easily, and they treat him like a friend and i love it. I also enjoy him having a bit of a rapport with Lance. They’re both watching these kids dance around each other with feelings and shaking their head. And they totally watch spanish soap operas together as a guilty pleasure sometimes

A NOTP I have with said character: Pretty much any of the main kids, but I really don’t ship Mystery with anyone. I like him just reveling in this found family he has now and enjoying these connections he went centuries without making. 

A random headcanon: You’ve heard this one (and written a little thing for it too), but Mystery heavily relates to Stitch in Lilo and Stitch. He felt like the little monster that just wanted to hurt people and Vivi kind of helped him have some kind of connection and realize he wanted to be better. Vivi connects to Lilo and being seen as weird, and Lewis connects to feeling lost and finding a family in a similar way he does, so when they have a rough day or need it, they watch that movie as a bit of comfort.

General Opinion over said character: A formerly not so good but now good boy just doing his best! Sometimes he attac when he should protecc but!! he’s trying!! He just sometimes bite when doesn’t know what to do!! oops!!

11. How many stories have you written so far?

Oof, that depends on what you count as “a story” lol-- I have at least 19 small pieces for MSA, and one big in-progress collab work, plus a several long-form rps. I can’t remember how many one-shots I wrote for Portal, and there was also a perpetually unfinished longform fic -- plus a handful of original short fiction. Maybe about 40-50 things?

12. What’s your favorite thing that you ever wrote?

Probably A Sleep Like Death, although I’m only half responsible for it, and I definitely couldn’t do it without Kirby!

19. What is/ are your favorite fandom author/authors?

You may have heard of one of them! A dear friend of mine by the name of Kita :3a There’s also Tristan and Phantom and Flash!! And Kirby of course :3

Outside of MSA there’s Wurm from back in my Portal days!

46. What’s your favorite emotion to cause on your readers?

Honestly, I’m pleased to evoke any emotion in a reader! I guess-- curiosity as to what happens next, is the number one thing I want to cause them to feel, though ‘playful outrage’ ranks up there as well lol

I was having some drinks with the boys and were were watching a zombie flick where it was spread initially through eating the brain in ritual cannibalism and I thought ‘Calder eats brains all the time’ and that’s kinda zombieish already. Are you a zombie murder horse?  Or could you, like not be affected by a zombie disease cause your magic, but accidentally spread it to others? I need to know, Calder.”

A Colt Encounter

Calder was returning from an unfortunately unsuccessful hunt. The man had been too wary to be lured, so he had stopped at one of the human ‘gas stations,’ the only places open at this hour to pick up something to assuage his grumbling belly. He wouldn’t touch the loathsome things called roller dogs but this one at least had some sandwiches that were decent. He padded quietly over the turf, heading for the lake he’d claimed as his own, plastic bag of food dangling loosely in one hand.

He’d just reached the human-sculpted beach when he heard it; a quiet, mournful sniffle. What?  Setting his bag in the sand, he shifted back to his natural form for its far sharper than human senses. Ears pricked, he lifted his head for a good whiff of the cooling night air. Human and by the scent of it, a quite young one. What was a human child doing out here at this time of night, alone?

He paced a few steps forward, hooves silent on the sand, neck outstretched to get a better look at the small, tow-headed child sitting in a huddled ball on the sand, sniffling occasionally. Young, yes, and bowed under a weight of grief bigger than he was. Was he yet another abandoned child?

Calder had seen too many of those in his years, human waifs left abandoned by parents or guardians or orphaned by chance. Like any of the Fae, who bred only rarely, he had a soft spot for young ones. Many of his distant cousins were apt to steal away abused or neglected human children and raise them in Underhill as their own.

With a shake of his head, he returned to the bag and caught the handles up in his mouth, carrying it back to where the forlorn child sat. Whickering softly, he stepped in front of the small boy and dropped the bag into his lap. An offering of food to show he meant no harm.

Arthur was so lost in his grief he didn’t notice anything until the bag, landed in his lap. He looked up to see the most beautiful horse he had even seen, not that he’d seen many. It had a beautiful silky black coat that seemed to almost meld with the darkness around them. “I think you dropped this,” He offered the bag back to the horse. It showed no signs of taking it back, so he gently put it on the ground between them. He looked around to see if anyone was with the horse, but there was still no sign of any other people on the beach.

“Did you run away too?” he asked the horse. ”I don’t know how long till they find us, but you can stay if you want. He huffed at the water.  “I don’t want to leave Tempo.  This is where we lived, and where Mom, Dad, and Uncle Lance are b-buried.” He furiously wiped his eyes at this. “This is my home. But the dumb ol’ social worker says she’s gonna take me to a ‘bigger city’ so I can get adopted. I’m not dumb. People want to adopt babies. If I go with her, I’m just gonna get put in a place with other kids no one wants until I’m old enough to kick out.”

Tears were streaming down his cheeks faster than he could wipe them away. “It’s not fair! Why’d they all have to leave me! Why couldn’t they have taken me with them! It’s not fair! It’s not fair!”

9. Where do you usually go to write (bedroom, living room, etc.)?

Where ever my laptop happens to be at the time, usually in the living room or my bedroom.

19. What is/ are your favorite fandom author/authors?

Hoo boy, we can be here a while.

MSA I particularly enjoy your works, @tristanrambles, and the works by @chantillyxlacey and @kirbychan234

@everystarstorm has done some great Scooby Doo and I’m especially drawn to the @askmagicscoobydooblog. @spiffylindster doesn’t right often, but it’s always a treat. I’ve also recently started reading @eagefrien‘s work.

@cirilee is doing a wonderful story based off Beetlejuice the Musical

Back in my Detective Conan days I loved @ickaimps work as well as Ellen Brands (who as far as I know doesn’t have a tumblr)  

I know there’s prolly a whole bunch of people I missed, but brain is sleepy and I can kick myself for it later.

29. Describe your style in three words.

This is hard.

Actually that works, even if it describes the process more than the style.

46. What’s your favorite emotion to cause on your readers?

Another hard one. I love the melty fluff feeling and the Oh no of something gone wrong. I don’t know if it’s an emotion per se, but the best reaction is the ‘Things click into place’. Not just the surprise of a plot twist, but a realization the breadcrumb trail to that plot twist was there all along.

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

Oh so many-- I guess Enemies to Lovers would be the one I enjoy that’s most “controversial”; and I’ve never met an overdone AU scenario that I didn’t adore anyway lmao

As far as writing-- I enjoy writing kisses a lot, especially first kisses, ESPECIALLY if they’ve been mutually pining for those kisses for ages.

(Also, I will admit it, I do really enjoy writing nsfw stuff, especially if the characters involved are smack-dizzy in love with each other and I can stuff as much fluff and feelings into it as possible :’D )
