Chapter 1: Living as a Rockstar
Word Count: 1.2k
The thump of the drums deep in his head, the blinding lights pointed directly at him, the crowd cheering just for him (Well, and his bandmates I guess). Those were all things Katsuki Bakugo thrived on when his feet hit the stage.
Katsuki was the popular and aggressive drummer and founder of the local but rapidly growing punk rock band, DYNAMIGHT. DYNAMIGHT consisted of Mina Ashido as vocals, Denki Kaminari on lead guitar, Hinata Sero as rhythm guitar, Eijiro Kirishima as a strong bass, and finally, Katsuki Bakugo explosively on drums. While Katsuki was a fan-favorite for his good looks and cocky attitude, his bandmates got plenty of love from the crowd too.
Tonight was supposed to be a night like any other. DYNAMIGHT got a gig at a nearby bar. The crowd quickly flowed in once it got closer to showtime. Right behind the rest of his band members, Katsuki walked on stage with unwavering confidence and the usual grumpy attitude. The bright lighting quickly hit his body as he came into view.
Baggy black jeans covered his legs while a black tanktop with a contrasting white skull on the front hugged his torso in a way that wasn't quite tight but not loose either. Silver piercings and thin silver chains lined both his ears while they shined and reflected in a way that you couldn't miss. The audience also adored his snake bites that cuffed around his bottom lip.
The band quickly got started as the crowd cheered. People jumped to the beat and waved their hands in the air. Speakers blasted the music and you could feel the bass deep in your chest. Eventually, the band wrapped up the night with one of their popular hits. The crowd roared for the last time as Mina raised her fist in the air with a bright smile.
The group walked off stage panting, hot, and sweaty from the tiring performance they just finished up. Once they were out of the audience's sight, Denki collapsed on a black leather couch that was sitting backstage for him. “Man…Adding more songs to our setlist is more tiring than I thought it’d be…” he groaned.
“Oh, you're fine. Quit whining, moron,” Katsuki snapped back as he went over to a vanity that had a strong glow from the light bulbs surrounding the mirror. He inspected himself for a second before putting a hand up to his face and pulling his bottom eyelid down a bit. “Shit…did my eyeliner look this crappy the whole time?”
“Woohoo! That was another great performance, you guys!” Mina exclaimed before settling down on the couch next to Denki who was already sprawled out and taking up half the space on the damn thing.
Eijiro came up behind Katsuki and patted him on the back with his usual shining smile. “Eh, don’t stress about it too much, man! You nailed all the beats out there!”
“Of course I did, idiot.”
Hanta leaned back in an attempt to crack his back before he straightened back up with a grin. “Mina’s right, y’know. We did great!”
“Why are you all acting like this is a new thing!?” Katsuki barked out.
Denki sighed as he pulled his phone out from his pocket. “Why are you always so loud, Bakugo?” He opened up his phone and tapped around on it for a second. “Hey. have you guys been checking in on social media recently?”
“To be honest, not really…Why?” Hanta replied.
“A new alt rock band has been blowing up and they're super close by. Like, the same town close…”
“Oh, yea! I heard about that!” Mina yelled out. “Their band name is something like…Addition Super, right?
“Plus Ultra, but close enough,” Denki corrected.
Hanta thought for a second before raising a brow. “That sounds like a play on All Might, don't you think?”
“Ugh. Who cares about all those lame extras?”
“Well, people are saying that they're our main competition,” Denki added as he scrolls through some comments on his phone.
“No way! Seriously?” Kirishima butted in before walking over and hovering next to the couch. “I mean, I haven't even heard of them before until now!”
“Probably because they just debuted a couple weeks ago. At least that's what I heard.” Mina replied.
Katsuki groaned as he got up and grabbed his black leather jacket and threw it on. “Whatever. I'm heading out. I have some stuff to get done.” Before leaving he turned toward Eijiro and pointed a firm finger at him. “Pack up my stuff on the kit. AND BE CAREFUL WITH IT OR I’LL BEAT YOU INTO THE GROUND!” he demanded.
“Yea, yea. I will. Just don't forget to come to practice tomorrow!” Eijiro yelled back as Katsuki was already beginning to make his way out the door that led to the back parking lot, slamming it shut behind him.

After a couple hours of Katsuki doing some cooking and cleaning around his apartment, he began to wind down. He did all the things he had to in order to get ready for bed, which included getting changed into grey sweatpants and a different plain black tank. He has multiple pairs.
He settled himself down on his bed, laying above the sheets. He let out a sigh before grabbing his phone out of his pocket. The artificial glow lit up his face in the dark room. He had a few notifications from a group chat that was labeled “BAND BROS” courtesy of Denki and Eijiro.
Katsuki rarely ever contributed in the group chat since usually it was just everyone else talking about something dumb and unimportant, but he decided to take a look just in case it was something of interest.
BAND BROS:
Shitty Hair: Did we ever figure out what we're gonna do at practice tomorrow???
Pinky: Not rlly tbh lmao
Pikachu: I KEEP SEEING THAT BAND EVERYWHEREEEEE!!!!
Soy Sauce Face: You need to put the phone down dude
Katsuki rolled his eyes at the useless messages. “Theyre still talking about that?” He quickly switches from Messages to TikTok. In reality, he hated social media. The only reason he actually had it was to keep tabs on the accounts they had to promote the band.
He typed “Plus Ultra band” into the search bar with swift taps. The rivaling bands account is the first thing to pop up. He subtly raised a brow at the tiny logo as the profile picture.
He clicked on the page and went to the most recent post. It was a photo of the band on a lit up stage from a crowd perspective. The crowd seemed all hyped up with whatever they were playing. The photo was angled up with the vocalist being the main subject of the photo.
Katuski’s eyes widened when he saw the vocalist's bright green hair. His confident smile. The piercing on his eyebrow and several others on his ears. Hand holding the mic and the electric guitar hanging on his body. The lights made it seem like he was glowing.
His shock quickly morphed into rage as he gripped his phone at an almost crushing strength. His expression turned into something that can only be described as pure anger.
“Is that fucking Deku?”
