( a scene from the past...)A nameless girl amid the waves, floating on her back. Far above were large flying creatures that back then had no name. Dragons? Possibly, for they roared and split the clouds with the forces of their powerful wings. The waves, the waves were a stronger force than her limbs, pushing her like deadwood toward the cliffs. The jagged rocks would jab against her skin, puncturing her then and there but still she would not die. Already drowning herself her had not worked, the water had only burned her with its salt and crushed her hopes for salvation.... ...feeling cold was natural in the water, but was it normal to feel the cold spread down from her skin into her bloodstream and wash over her stone heart? Rising from the water with her young powers the girl had the form of a human 8 year old, but the cold eyes of someone long past expired in terms of being alive. Brushing her wet hair with stiff fingers she walked up the beach and collapsed into the sand. Better to just lay here for the next century than a waste more time....time.....time being alive. The sounds of impact along the sand came suddenly and there were the dragons descending down with cries of pain and anguish. Men- those foul creatures that had spawned at some point in time, were bringing the noble creatures down as a “coming of age” sport. Ironic that it literally took half an army to bring down a single dragon that was not but a teen. Rising up she watched men in thick armor be burned and melt inside their own packaging. The show pleased something inside her to see and she half wished for a bag of roasted chestnuts to further enjoy the show. After less than half an hour she grew bored again and walked over just as the remaining 5 men took down the last dragon, now covered in blood and entrails and everything else. “Help me.” She said quietly.Then louder. “H E L P ME.” A man looked up and saw only a small child with tears in her eyes looking as if she had been drowned. Before long she was on horse back with one knight, the other knights left behind to clean up their dragon mess. Take her to the palace, they had said, the king will know what to do with the girl. They would make her a servant girl wouldn’t they? Something beneath her intellect and power level no doubt about that. In fact once they had entered the perimeters of Camelot she knew for certain what she would become. A murderer.
“Do you think foods have feelings? Maybe that gumball I dropped today was sad I didn’t eat him…”
“...Or maybe he was happy that he lived,” Ronan replied thoughtfully, not looking up from her sketchbook. “Do you think foods would be happy or sad that they aren’t eaten? I’d have to imagine that if foods did have feelings, the wouldn’t be very thrilled about being squished in someone’s mouth.”
