The angel fluttered his eyelashes as he was brought back from a state of contemplation, by a soft voice carried by the midnight air. He could still see the trace left by a meteorite making its way through a sky of stars. Once more did his eyes wander up there and traced the thousands of lights that were fossil and possibly their sources long gone, and yet not quite. He gazed, and he saw it all, past, present and future. Strange melancholy came over him and he found himself shaking ever so slightly, though he could not possibly feel the cold in a way that humans did.
“Indeed,” he said in response, with only a slight delay.
His voice was, too, soft in a manner respectful to the deceased. His head bent down to add to it, moments after. He could no longer watch the eternity of what was up there. It overwhelmed him, brought tears to his eyes, -- no longer was he used to staring right into the light. No longer was he used to seeing the infinite. A bittersweet smile came to pass on his lips and his hands linked together in his lap for support. He could not stay out here for much longer.
"Are you not cold? -- We should return inside.”
