Deionarra’s Theme from Planescape Torment OST Composed by Mark Morgan and Richard Band "Belief damned a woman, whose heart clung to the hope that another loved her when he did not." ------
I don’t have much to say about this other than if you love video game narrative and like to read, you should play this game. Honestly, if I thought that the story, depth, characters etc wouldn’t get screwed up, I would absolutely love to see this game get remade. Don’t rewrite anything. Just... remake it. It definitely shows signs of its age and of attention not being paid to mechanics. But holy shit... even in spite of its clunkiness it is JUST SO GOOD. Also... you want to see an alignment system done well, play this. They get it so right.
been playing Planescape Torment for the first time. They really added a Scottish tsundere tiefling waifu.
Planescape: Torment
Planescape: Torment is my favourite game of all time. I played it for the first time when I was about 11-12, I believe, and I was just overwhelmed by it. I understood English well enough at the time to kind of understand what was going on, but also enough to realize that there was a lot of stuff that was completely going over my head. I think I have played it about seven or eight times since then, and I discover something new and absolutely amazing with every playthrough. It's just such an absolute treasure of a game.
I've realized this about myself - I'm not a huge fan of games that dump novel-length pieces of lore explanations into your lap. Like, I never read a single book in an Elder Scrolls game. While PS:T does this to some extent, a lot of the world is left as much a mystery to you as to your character. You get the main ideas, such as generally how Sigil works and why you shouldn't piss off the Lady of Pain, but a lot is left sketchy or explained in conversations with characters or through plot points. And I like that. The world doesn't have to explain more about itself than you need to know in order to enjoy the story.
And, of course, I enjoy the focus on themes like regret, loss and the determination of yourself. For example, Fall-From-Grace knew her nature and decided not to accept it, Dak'kon damn near broke the way his world worked by thinking too hard about it and Nordom is an outcast because he considers himself a "self" at all. And of course, The Nameless One discovering all the bad stuff he's done and the sorrow he causes just by existing. I love it.
As for the art, I decided to try my hand at painting the women in The Brothel for Slating Intellectual Lusts. Mostly because Fall-From-Grace is one of the best goddamned characters ever created. A post here that I can't find anymore pointed out how she wins her freedom in a game of wits and goes on to start what's essentially a psychological clinic, and I love her. And I really liked this part of the game. So I wanted to try painting them, unfortunately this shed some light on one of the game's problems that I had pointed out to me. The game is pretty horny. When I read the descriptions of these women, most of them were little more than "yeah she's hot", which didn't leave me with much of an idea what they look like. Which is unfortunate, and something you should keep in mind if that sort of thing bothers you.
Oh and hey, guess who spent almost three months painting this thing only to not be pleased with how it turned out at all? Yeah, it's me. I bit off more than I can chew, but I'm glad I tried.
I will play Planetscape: Torment for the first time! Believe it or no, but I haven’t heard about it until fanarts started showing on my dash recently. I will put my impressions here so be prepared.
My friend is a floating skull. And I’m so ugly! So ugly!
I would die for Old Mebbeth. ALSO. ANNAH!!!!
I had this thought - Planescape: Torment and Disco Elysium are pretty similar, right? So what would happen if Morte and Kim switched places? And then my finger slipped, so here are some ideas (basically, it’s hard to think of stuff with Morte that wasn’t just “aah a floating skull” and Kim just does not know what is happening and TNO is no help).
(I really hope the last one isn’t as butchered by Tumblr as it looks)
