I’m going to describe what happened to my basically new PS4 and this might get kind of long, but if your PS4 has also been freezing, turning off, and messing up lately please read this and let me know if you were able to find a fix
So I bought my PS4 January/February 2019. It had worked completely fine all the way up until around April 2020.
That was around the first time that I was playing a game and it just froze, no buttons I pushed would do anything. Couldn’t press the PS button to get to the home screen or anything. Then the screen went black and it turned itself off.
I turned it back on later and it said there was an error in the system or something and restarted itself. After that it worked alright again for a while until I bought Last of Us 2, then it really started messing up.
The very first scene of the game, Joel’s hand was disappearing and the rag he was cleaning the guitar with would suddenly look stiff and float through the air by itself.
As I progressed in the game, it kept getting worse and worse. Characters would turn stiff and inanimate like design models and bounce around the screen in weird t-poses.
It got so bad that it was unplayable.
And almost every time I turned the PS4 on or tried to load a game, it would just freeze suddenly and then turn off.
Sometimes it would tell me “Corrupted Database” or something was wrong with the hard drive.
I searched everywhere online for people that had the same experiences and did every single possible solution.
Restarted the system. Went into Safe Mode and Rebuilt the Database.
Still no luck in fixing it.
I put off trying the Initialize and Reinstall option in Safe Mode because I knew it would delete all the save data and I had no way of getting into the system to back up because it couldn’t even turn on normally outside of Safe Mode.
Finally a few weeks ago, early November, I decided to try it and see if it would finally fix whatever problem was making the PS4 unusable.
I had read everywhere that doing this fixed this problem for many people.
Now, I did it and ended up deleting all of my game saves by doing the Initialize option and reinstalled the software but it STILL does not work.
I have no idea what else to do to try and fix it.
I read that I’ll just have to buy a new hard drive, but it will turn of for a little bit before failing again.
I just think it’s really weird that It was barely a year old and then started messing up like this.
Has anyone else had this happen to their perfectly fine PS4 all of a sudden?
And has anyone found a way to fix it? (Besides buying a completely new hard drive?)
I really don’t want to spend 500 dollars for a new system when my PS4 is basically brand new and shouldn’t be this messed up already.
I mean, I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy nut but it is very fishy that suddenly a lot of people’s PS4′s started messing up around the same time when a recent update came out. And then the PS5 was announced...
