Why it’s important that Minors do not interact with Adults on Tumblr RP PSA

I’m not gonna sugar coat things here cause let’s face it, RP is fun and all but this fandom and many fandoms deal with adult content and the internets changed heavily from the early 2010s.

I know it feels like there’s a lot of 21+ only blogs out there and that can feel like fandoms and blogs are being gatekept by adults but trust me when I say that it’s for the safety of everyone online that it’s this way. Not just for Adults but for Minors as well.

There’s real consequences that can happen to Adults if they’re caught writing adult themes with children regardless if they knew their age or not. And that doesn’t mean just explicit (sexual) material.

Hiding or lying about your age to RP in a community that for adults isn’t worth it. Period.

You can get people in a major amount of trouble or even jail time and on a sex offenders list if you aren’t upfront with your age. There are laws specifically to protect children online from these kinds of things and even if it isn’t your intention to get someone in trouble it won’t matter to police or a court system.

If you are below the age requirement of a blog then do NOT interact!!!

For the Adults out there, it’s safe to never interact with a blog that doesn’t have their age stated for your own safety, no matter the state or country you live in there is always the potential of having major life altering consequences so it’s better to steer clear.

Be safe, responsible and respectful.

TRASH DAD PSA — GRAB YOUR JUICEBOX, THIS ONE’S GONNA STING AND ITS BEEN A MINUTE.

Alright, gather ‘round, gremlins and goblins, because Trash Dad’s pulling the minivan over and we’re gonna have a real loud talk about manners on the internet — specifically, your inability to read a damn blog description before flailing into someone’s inbox like a feral raccoon in a recycling bin.

Rule #1:

If someone puts content warnings, shipping preferences, fandom tags, or literal neon-lit disclaimers on their blog and you STILL come whining like, “ummm this makes me uncomfy,” then congratulations — you played yourself.

You were warned. You were guided. You had every signpost telling you “Hey, maybe don’t go poking around here if this ain’t your scene,” and you decided to march in anyway like you were entitled to rearrange someone else’s sandbox. Spoiler alert: you’re not.

Rule #2:

People can ship what they want. People can write what they want. It is not your business.

Don’t like it? That’s cool. Use the magical tools at your disposal:

Scroll. Mute. Block. Leave.

But don’t you dare vague, subtweet, or passive-aggressively try to guilt someone into censoring themselves on their space because you can’t handle seeing a tag you disagree with.

Rule #3:

This is a customizable, adult space. Not preschool. You don’t get gold stars for tone policing or moral grandstanding. We write here to explore, to create, to get unhinged and sometimes deeply messy. If that rattles your pearl-clutching sensibilities, then maybe go knit a Tumblr cozy and chill out somewhere quieter.

Look, Trash Dad gets it — some content just ain’t for you. That’s normal. That’s human. But how you react to it? That’s where your character shows. So either be an adult and curate your space, or go play in traffic on MySpace (not in real life we DON’T want that).

TL;DR:

Mind your damn business. Read the blog. Respect boundaries. And for the love of whatever gods are left, stop trying to make everyone write like they’re a character in a Disney channel original.

at this point, some of y’all need to stop playing deputy dog over “suspected ai” like you’ve been handed divine forensic insight when half the tools people love to wave around get it wrong on a regular basis.

seriously. miss me with that.

the so-called ai analyzers are notoriously shaky, people have been saying this, proving this, and demonstrating this for a while now, and yet some of y’all are still out here acting like a glorified guessing machine is a smoking gun. it is not. it’s barely a weather vane.

and while we’re here: bullet points are not proof of ai. some of us have adhd. some of us like structure. some of us do not feel like writing every post as one giant suffocating paragraph from hell. people have been using bullet points, lists, headers, weird formatting, and stylized structure on tumblr since some of you were probably still fighting for your lives in the html editor trenches.

also, with my whole chest, fuck off with the “writing symbols” reasoning. the em dashes. the semicolons. the slashes. the colons. the ellipses. the bolding. the italics. the little formatting quirks.

you mean… writing choices?

you mean punctuation?

you mean the tools actual human beings use when they are trying to create rhythm, emphasis, style, pacing, or readability?

be serious.

i am so tired of this bizarre little trend where people look at anything remotely polished, structured, or intentional and go “hmm. suspicious.” no, beloved. sometimes a person just knows how they like to write. sometimes they’ve spent years honing a voice. sometimes they enjoy cadence. sometimes they like a list. sometimes they are trying to make their post readable and not look like a wall of melted drywall.

not everything that sounds thoughtful is fake. not everything that sounds organized is generated. not everyone using bullet points is sitting in a lab feeding prompts into the machine like dr. frankenstein of the dash.

and honestly? the rush some people have to publicly sniff around other people’s writing like self-appointed detectives is getting real old, real fast.

because once you start treating vibes as evidence, once you start treating punctuation as proof, once you start treating “this sounds too polished for my personal taste” as a valid accusation, you are not protecting creativity. you are just creating an environment where everybody gets side-eyed for daring to have a style.

that helps no one.

so unless you’ve got something stronger than “well it had bullet points” or “it used symbols” or “the ai detector i found in the clearance bin behind the internet said maybe :(” maybe sit down.

because false accusations are still accusations, and some of y’all are getting way too comfortable acting like your gut feeling is peer-reviewed evidence.

PSA- Rule Change & Appreciation

To kick things off, as some of you already know, there’s been a very pleasant change in my life these past couple months and, by extension, on this blog as well. A lot of you, chiefly any current or potential ship partners, were already made aware of this, but I wanted to make an official note on the subject: I’m now ship-exclusive with my irl partner. Which means that from here on out all romantic and sexual dynamics involving Astaria will be exclusive to their muses. This change has already been reflected in my rules!

I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge something that genuinely meant a lot to me. Before making this announcement, I personally reached out to over 20 roleplayers (Astaria was a bit of a ho idk what to tell you), all of them ranging from people I’ve shipped with extensively already or knew might have been interested in shipping with Astaria. That includes longtime friends I’ve written with on and off for years across multiple blogs and characters, as well as newer rp partners I’ve built very meaningful IC and OOC connections with! And I’m very proud to announce that every single one of my RP partners responded with kindness, understanding, and support towards this decision! Some of you even went out of your way to congratulate us, which I truly didn’t expect.

The fact that so many of you were not only okay with the change, but also happy to continue writing with Astaria in a platonic way speaks for itself. It reminded me how lucky I am to be surrounded by people who treat roleplay as what it’s meant to be: a fun, flexible, and safe hobby for everyone!

So truly, to both my longtime rp partners and those who are newer here, thank you. This change is very meaningful to me on a personal level and your reactions made it all the more special. 💕

ooc; aye folks — i’ve got a vacay starting tomorrow and will be flying out of town for some rest and recuperation in some much-needed sunshine. i suspect (keyword) i will lurk on and off here and on dis.cord but may otherwise be quiet until i return on feb 8th. just don't know how busy or not busy i will be while away and i want the option to clear my head given how i've been feeling the past week+. i'm hanging on to all of the drafts/asks i have, no matter how old but don't hesitate to reach out to poke me. and if i'm taking too long, no stress about droppin' em. i'm always down to restart/try again.

PSA;

After some long thought, I've decided that I will no longer be threading heterosexual smut. It makes me uncomfortable sometimes, and I don't have the want, or let's face it, the skill, to keep going with it.

MLM has always been my main focus and wheelhouse and always will be. So going forward, any het implied smut can be in a thread, but it will be fade to black. I am still 100% down to do het ships though, as Henry is bisexual. Nothing will change with any established ships.

The only note I will make here is that there will be two exceptions to this rule for @accordedxneutralxterritory and @vulpuslunae should smut ever come up in our threads again. This is because we have a long established history.

Anything MLM (including trans men, ofc) is still on the table and smut asks for anyone are still on the table. I hope this doesn't upset anyone, but if it does, and you feel like you need to unfollow, then I understand.

I will be adding this to my rules very soon, but I wanted to post it here clearly first. Love yous. And I love and adore all my ships.
