The PhotoShop Course

Hi Everyone!!

YES!!! My blog has been hibernating for quite sometime as i have stayed quite away from updating it. But guess what??? I’M BACK!!!! and i’ll keep you all updated with what has been going on with me and my work lately and what will be happening in the days to come (ALOT I TELL YOU) ;)

Well, for quite sometime i had this urge to learn photoshop so badly because of its immense need in my field of work and also because of its use in everyday life and work. So in these vacations a friend told me about this course happening that too near my place. so WHY NOT?? i rolled in!

The course was conducted by one my college teachers of design department. You can check out the page at Ben’Daood Studios on facebook as they keep offering courses regulalry :) It was a month course with three classes in a week. The more work you do, the more you learn!

I started with the basics. Introduction to the important tools of the program. just not oral introduction but also on actually using them. In the first task i made a rose coloured CPU. Learned to select items, move them, add color to them, transform them, change their perspective, adding texture or print and clipping mask too. The beginning was interesting and i was already enjoying :D

For the second assignment i was given the image below and asked to change the background sky, add its reflection in water. Basically to edit it and make it look like ‘unedited’. So. i started. the minute details matter and my teacher wont let me skip them :P But i kept the pace and completed it in two classes :D Whatever i learned in this assignment was important as i learned to change the background and give the overall image a similar effect.

The third task was a lengthy one but the result was pretty Cool. I had to work on a portrait and decided to work on self portrait. it was more like deconstructing your image or some kind of pixel work however, the shapes were distorted. The entire assignment was done through making a selection, transforming it, adding color and using warp. It took me 5 days to complete it. Not entire 5 days but yeah. Following image shows the result :D

Next came in the PEN TOOL. Idk why but this tool always scared me. It went over my head and i never really understood how to use it. But this time, things were different. I learned how it works, i did alot of work using pen tool and now i am confident enough that i can use it anywhere i want :D

So, i made my own Cellphone hybrid using the pen tool. worked with shadows, gradients, stroke, reflection, masking, brushes and alot more stuff. In the end i added my favourite Superman wallpaper to it. Looks soooo Good :D

By the last week, i knew almost all the basic functions and tools in the design part of photoshop. What was left? Photography editing. That was what i had to do next. Personally, i found the editing part more difficult as compared to the designing thing because it had way more possibility than the first one. Learned using healing tool, spot fixing tool, sharpen, blur, masking and colour balance, photo filter, colour selection, exposure, curves, brightness and so on.

I transformed a simple picture with a white background into a picture captured in the studio. I was happy with it because it came out how i wanted it to :D Them Studio Feels!!

I am happy with adding another skill to my work and i’m happier that my vacations weren’t a total waste instead i did something productive, something that can be helpful all my life!
