Temple of the Muses (Baalbek, Lebanon).
Separated from the main temple complex by a colonnaded street is the Court of Venus and the Muses. The Temple of the Muses is the older of the two shrines, built during the 1st century AD. It has a podium base, and is surrounded by engaged columns – columns that are embedded in the wall and project partially out from it. This makes the temple a pseudoperipteros, which is a building with engaged columns in the outer walls, but not the front wall.
