What do you suppose is the most ridiculous subject you could get a PhD in? Like, a real degree from an accredited university. What is the craziest thing you could become a doctor of?
Cryptozoology is out of the question. Far too fringe. Same with ufology. They could never be taken seriously.
Divinity is a thing, but that's just a fancy word for theology which is just religious study. Eschatology maybe? The study of the end of the world?
Astrology? Surely somebody somewhere has written a dissertation defending THE MUSIC OF THE SPHERES
Alchemy is just chemistry and physics disguised as magic; you can turn individual atoms of lead into gold with a particle accelerator, but I doubt anyone has a diploma with the actual word alchemy on it.
I could see someone becoming a doctor of "alternative medicine," just because I have no faith in the American healthcare system to weed out the charlatans and conmen; a lot of MDs are antivax, think you can pray illnesses away, and prescribe fasting as a cure-all, so quackery is all but mainstream at this point.
