So my pretty purple oncidium orchid is working on getting its first #psudosprig, the little spike, going. Faster than the orange #oncidium that is older. The other has a tiny psudosprig nub that I can't easily take a pi of yet. The purple was in lots better condition when I found it on discount and I didn't make any mistakes like I had with my first, poor thing. So with luck it will flower first. Now you might be asking 'Why don't you prettyfy it with pretty pots and stage things.' Because I don't feel like making things pretty gives people a good idea of reality. Like, I would rather show I recycle 2ltr bottles than show I spent a gross amount of money like others do just for show. The wooden sticks, keep gravity from smashing the spaghnum moss down. Keeps it light and fluffy and gives support under the orchid to help it grow. Tall bottles are not like orchid pots, the orchids need the help. Also, takes it longer for repots and helps display them better so I can see if they need water. I actually like how it looks and the lower plants get the moss as a backdrop. Ideally I'd love to use like, glass, buuut its too hot to see what the dollar store has lol. Anyways, now you know what new roots for an oncidium look like and get to see what a psudobulb just starting looks like. I call them 'psudosprigs'! #Orchid #grow #info #raw #real #recycle #honest #aesthetic #arizona https://www.instagram.com/p/CCkZMXFpYGH/?igshid=1pfz9czsr1333
