So, I love the idea of the role swap AU.
But, I’d like to know if it just applies to the characters you’ve already mentioned, or, is it like. The Loyalists and the targets swap places too?
Like, would one of the Boyles send Daud to kill two of her sisters, or one of the Pendletons is funding the Lord Regent Havelock and are holding a masquerade ball? Just some thoughts I guess and I’m curious what your thoughts are.
yes it applies to EVERYONE!! Literally everyone in the dh universe gets swapped w someone. And yes, the Loyalists and targets DO swap places!
You got it spot-on with the Pendletons! The three Pendletons are holding the masquerade ball, and Treavor is the one funding the Lord Regent. I had a whole fun discussion with my friend @lordcustythependletwat on how that mission goes down differently with the twins, so if you wanna know more feel free to ask me!
And pretty close w the Boyles -- two of the Boyles actually send Daud to kill their sister! Esma (bc canonically eldest) holds the voting bloc AND is keeping Emily locked up — tho uh... i don’t think she’d be at the Golden Cat. Waverly and Lydia fulfil canon!Treavor's role within the Loyalists.
(they still end up in-fighting like the other two Loyalists by the end bc they both want the voting bloc and Power)
Campbell and Martin swap -- so you swap the minging High Overseer who's bad at his job and got there via blackmail with a much more loveable High Overseer who's also bad at his job and got there via blackmail. Fun!
And then, finally, Havelock and Burrows swap. HOWEVER, Burrows was still the Spymaster and Havelock the admiral, but of course Havelock orchestrated the coup and took power. This does add a little fun to the dynamics of the Loyalists, in that Daud already knows and dislikes Burrows before he gets there lol.
Though the Good Loyalists all swap with each other, not villains. Lydia (Brooklaine) and Wallace swap, with Lydia being the Boyle's servant and Wallace as the Hound Pits' worker. Callista, Sam, and Cecelia do a three-swap, with Cecelia as the governess, Callista as the boatwoman, and Sam as the Pits' bartender!
