“A boy’s best friend is his mother…”
Psycho (1998)
Yeah! Psycho 1998 is an ALMOST perfect shot for shot remake :)
And it does indeed star Vince vaughn
I watched it recently on peacock because I never saw the original (I can’t do black and white movies 😔) and I thought the boys might like it :)
Huh, I had no idea. Maybe I'll check it out!
Also I'm so sorry I'm gonna sound like an ass but you gotta give black and white movies a chance- if its a preference and not a sensory issue, of course. I used to also avoid them because I thought they would be boring or inherently worse than something with colour, but I think the key is to not look at no colour as a loss but a different kind of visual art form.
When shot well, black and white movies can have a different mood, a drama because of the way that black and white lighting creates extreme contrasts. It allows clever cinematographers to draw the eye in certain ways that don't quite work the same in movies with colour.
Of course I'm not judging anyone who just straight up doesn't like black and white movies. I definitely decided I didn't like them before I gave them a fair shot though and I'm really glad I changed my mind on that, so I like to encourage people to give them a chance.
Happy Birthday in the afterlife to Robert Forster!

Psycho (1998, that's the remake)
Plot
Exactly the same as the original.
Opinion
I expected this to obviously be bad but it was kinda bad in new and different ways, because they made the very odd choice of almost recreating the original movie shot for shot. Quite a few dialogues and scenes are identical and it feels bizarre to see. The things that are new are just sort of worse and that's about it. Can't really understand why this movie was made because clearly no one wanted to try something different. Usually even a bad remake does something unique but this one is very odd!
do you see what I’m getting at here?
Here's the one Psycho movie we've all been dreading!
This week, we have many, many questions regarding the casting, acting, cinematography, direction, costumes and more about the bizarre and largely awful remake, Psycho (1998).
I actually really enjoyed the Psycho Remake.
