For those who might not have gotten to see this previously, the Psycho Jello/Naked Persimmon LIVE Good Times! Listening Party is now on Youtube! On May 27th, @psychojello and I got together to listen to the new Monkees album, Good Times!, and discuss our thoughts on each song. The original broadcast was done on the Psycho Jello FB page, but now can be viewed by clicking above!

I just want to remind people (although I’m sure most of you don’t need reminding) that @psychojello - http://www.psycho-jello.com/ - has been a thing since 1999.

This was a time when the internet is definitely not what it is today, finding out info wasn’t as simple as slapping it into google and having 928429 results come up in half a second.

But Meg created a site (and bare in mind she was only a 16 year old kid when Psycho Jello was born!!!) and compiled a shit-load of information through her own hard work, had info on the Monkees WAGS (that’s Wives and Girlfriends) that nobody else had, and this was loongggggg before social media where all this stuff was easy and accessible to find out. And she couldn’t even promote her stuff through social media either, not like people can promo their stuff/sites today.

Not only that, but she is still doing it today. She didn’t get bored or give up one day. She has thousands of followers/likes/fans, whatever you want to call them, across the three main forces of social media - facebook, twitter, tumblr. And she still offers NEW AND UNIQUE content on a regular basis.

She works full time and DJs at the weekends and even though she doesn’t have the money for some super-fancy website (who does?!) she supplies us content, she still promo’s the guys, even when she’s really into other stuff and her interest in the Monkees is on the down-side, she still never forgets about the band and the supporters she’s gained over the years.

She has also never kissed anybody’s back-sides to get to where she is. And that includes kissing the back-sides of the Monkees.

The best thing about Meg is she is real and honest about the band - the nitty-gritty, not attractive stuff that SO many other fansites brush over - and that is why she is unique and that is why she is so respected.

NEVER FORGET THIS STUFF. Having some slick, fancy, expensive website means nothing unless you offer something different. psychojello has something money can’t buy and that is ORIGINALITY and personality and good-humour.

People like her because she is ONE OF US. She is a FAN. A real fan with a voice and opinions of her own. A real fan who knows her stuff but can also make fun of the band she has loved since she was a kid.

THIS IS WHY she has been at the top of the Monkees fandom for 17 years. That’s before some of you were even born!!! And I know when I first got into the fandom, 4 years ago now, she was the first Monkees blog I come across and one of the main inspirations to get involved in the fandom myself (along with NP).

THIS IS WHY over 3,000 peoples tuned in to her and NP’s live listening party of Good Times! on facebook last week.

THIS IS WHY most of us know she should be in charge of the Monkees’ social media.

This may seem arse-kissy of me but I don’t care because above all of that stuff I have spoken about, she is my friend and I talk to her every day and I know sometimes she gets down thinking that she is somehow being over-looked and that people aren’t aware of how hard she has worked for almost 2 decades now.

So I just wanted to remind everyone, because some of you might not have been aware just how long she has been doing this for. I mean I could go on and on about the stuff she does, some stuff/ideas that have been - deliberately or not - repeated by other fansites (and even if they weren’t purposesly pinched, Meg was doing these things first), but I think I’ll wrap this up!

Things in fandoms change. There’s the good, the bad and the ugly and interest can go up and down and up again. People come and go. There’s the fun, the funny, the drama. But one thing that has always remained is Psycho Jello who has been here for it all, supplying content and humour and real talk, and I’m sure she will keep being here as long as there are Monkees fans.

Please never forget the hard work she has done for this fandom, and if anyone has anything else to add then please feel free to jump in!

That's right, folks: Next Friday, May 27th, NP and PJ will be hosting a joint LIVE listening party at 10:30pm Eastern (9:30 CT) only on Facebook!

2. On top, to the right of PJ's profile picture, click "Liked." You'll see "Notifications" in the drop-down menu. Click "All On," and you'll receive a big, shiny notification when we go live! (OR just make sure to head to the PJ Facebook page at 10:30pm next Friday and you can watch the broadcast there!)

Today is the birthday of the fabulous Meg of psychojello, and so we’d like to take just a moment to wish her the happiest birthday EVER. Nothing that we at NP do would have been possible without Psycho Jello, which paved the way for us and countless other Monkees fan sites. 

So join us, won’t you please, in wishing Meg a very, very Happy Birthday!
