Teaching art
I´ve got a hand full people under my wing i can call ¨Students¨, I'm not an expert and there´s nothing in the way i teach that is seen in art schools, but i share what i can with those who are interested.
But the hardest part of teaching art, is not what is seen, but rather what isn't seen.
I try to tell people who want to get involved seriously with art, that it´s really more about your philosophy on life than the actual lines.
It´s obviously a highly debatable topic...¨what makes a good artist¨. but to me, it´s all about the mechanism that drives the lines.
You can have a natural talent for detail but say nothing.
You can be simplistic but able to condense the universe in a drop of water.
I like to think art is a lot like music, I´ve heard perfectly executed classical melodies and felt nothing and I've felt how an untuned violin drove me to tears...
To me, when it comes down to it, it´s not about the wrapping but the substance within.
I believe if you´re able to understand life, you´ll have a more powerful drive and dedication to what you do, rather than if you just chase after what you think is beautiful...
in a way im not saying ¨ don't go after beauty¨ but ¨go after it because you know why it´s beautiful¨.
