Phoenix Inn****
The name "Phoenix Inn" is thought to be a reference to the pub's ability to "rise from the ashes." The pub was originally built in 1620, but it was destroyed by fire in 1755. It was rebuilt a few years later, and it has been operating ever since. The bar is split level with parquet floor, wooden beams and a welcoming log fire during the winter months, decorated with old local photos, old beer bottles, tankards, wooden ships and barrel ends on the wood panelled wall at the far end. At the rear is a skittle alley function room which is also used for dining during busy periods. Outside near the entrance a covered patio area and pub garden at the rear. Bitter on tap Old Speckle Hen. Review 2023
