A Super Simple Banishing Ritual
No archangels, deities or religious trappings of any sort. This very easy ritual has been tested and proven by the magicians of the PubGrim.
Visualize yourself inside a giant sphere of white light. Feel the light banishing away negative energies inside you and around you. Continue until you feel like you're done. That's it. If you want, you could make up an incantation (mine is just "banish banish banish") and use it while doing this visualization. Simple as.
Creating Sigils based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
If you need ideas and suggestions for what kind of sigils to create, consider using Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as a guide to give you enough ideas to make your own personal grimoire of sigils. You can even use it to get ideas to make your own non-sigil spells. You can also use it as a template for organizing your book of shadows.
Maslow's hierarchy can be surprisingly useful as a map for magical practice because it gives you a way to ask what need am I actually trying to address?
One approach is to treat each level as a "sphere of operation":
1. Physiological Needs 🍞
Health, energy, food, housing, material stability
2. Safety Needs 🛡️
Protection, warding, financial security, overcoming fear
3. Love and Belonging 🤝
Friendship, community, family harmony, finding one's tribe
4. Esteem Needs 👑
Confidence, charisma, reputation, skill development
5. Self-Actualization 🌟
Creativity, life purpose, mastery, spiritual development
6. Self-Transcendence ✨
Communion with the divine, service, mystical experiences
For a magician, this can become a diagnostic tool.
Before casting, ask:
"Which need is this working actually serving?"
For example:
A prosperity sigil might not really be about money. It might be about safety.
A glamour spell might not be about attractiveness. It might be about esteem.
A devotion to your patron deity might not be about obtaining favors. It might be about self-transcendence.
Note: Remember that this is more of a guide than an instruction. I'm just saying that Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs can be used as a map to creating and organizing spells and rituals. I think it's worth experimenting with.
Randoodling: A Quick Way to Create Sigils
1. Close your eyes and doodle random lines on a piece of paper while focusing on your statement of intent.
2. Open your eyes and create a sigil out of parts of your random doodle that seem to catch your attention.
3. Design and redesign until it looks fine.
4. There you have it. You now have a sigil you can use for your magick.
5. There is no part 5. Just enjoy your sigil!
A Modern Invocation to Sobek
Praise be to Sobek! Praise be to the Crocodile God! The Lord of The Waters blesses us with abundance. Everything good goes to all. Blessings multiply and fill us. Sins are purged, paradise is here and everyone is happy. Why is that? Because Sobek provides. Yes, Sobek provides. Rejoice, everyone! Rejoice!
Sobek-Ra, Sobek-Ra, Sobek-Ra. Dua Sobek! Ankh, udja, seneb! 🐊☀️
Magick Tip: Clean your ritual space before asking spirits to enter it. In fact, cleaning can be a form of banishing if you think about it.
