A while back, I picked up Public Image Limited’s famous second album, 1980’s Metal Box, which came on three 12” 45RPM discs housed in a circular metal box. Only 60,000 were made and to some extent that was ambitious as it is a challenging listen—aggressive post-punk with little regard to details like melody and everyone playing in the same key. Anyway, I’ve always wanted one even though they’re quite rare today, and finally I found one at a bearable price that was complete (that sticker on the bottom vanishes a lot apparently) and in decent shape. It may look like crap thanks to the metal oxidation on the box—the result of acids in everyone’s hands—but this is actually cleaner looking than the Instagram filter would let on and most I’ve seen in real life are rusty and gross now. Leave it to Johnny Rotten to create an elegant package that purposefully deteriorated over time.

A key part of this collection is in collaboration with the world-known photographer, Dennis Morris, who was an assigned photographer for the likes of the Sex Pistols and Bob Marley. This collaboration consists of limited edition clothes using iconic photographs of the “Public Image Ltd” all shot by Morris. The collection reflects on the designer’s own adolescent emotions of his teens, which links with the vivid memories of sub-culture; Punk movement.
