I understand your Schadenfreude about the Mausoleum of Augustus, but don't you think it's awfully sad that the Italian government has been doing such a dismal job of caring for its archaeological heritage? (See also: Pompeii.)

Oh it definitely is, so much has fallen into such disrepair and, for lack of a better word, ruin. Wasn't part of Pompeii crumbling away after a huge rainstorm recently? I swear I remember hearing something about that on the news.

Well, if my last name were Buxtehude, I’d be the author of some of the most sublime organ music of the German Baroque. I could live with that.
