Summary: Rachel asks Puck to translate the Asterismos note for her, but it leaves her with more questions than answers.
Rachel clutched the message from Asterismos Inc in her hands as she went to meet Puck at the cafe. She felt confident. Hopefully, she was going to start getting answers about this whole thing. Going to see Shelby had been more confusing than anything. Puck, she knew, would be honest with her. She smiled when she saw Puck sitting at a table and went over to him. "Hello, Puck! How are you? I feel like we haven't spoken in forever!"
Puck arrived at the coffee shop looked for Rachel, but since she was nowhere to be found yet, he sat down and ordered a coffee and a cookie to wait for her. He was about to pick up a copy of that day's NYADaily when she approached his booth and smiled back at her. "Hey, Berry, how's it goin'?" He and Rachel didn't talk much, but since teaming up with her in the NAO and given the fact that they shared the same beliefs, he felt somehow connected to her in ways he couldn't quite explain. He didn't know her well, but he knew getting to know her better wouldn't be something he'd hate. "Yeah, I've been kind of busy, studying and working and all that," he shrugged standing up to move the chair for her to seat. "How's NYADA treatin' you, by the way? You're liking your classes and all that jazz?"
Rachel smiled thankfully when Puck pulled out her chair for her and sat. "Things have been going ... not too great. Especially after New Years Eve. Kurt's still missing. We're trying to find him but..." she trailed off and took a deep breath. She couldn't get upset right now. She needed to focus on the task at hand. Maybe if she was lucky enough to find an answer here, she'd be able to find Kurt as well. "Thank you for meeting me here, Puck. Over the past couple of months I've gotten packages from Asterismos, Inc. Apparently there some sort of Bloodline company? Anyway, the last one had a card that had Hebrew written on it. I want to know what it says and I can't ask my dads. They'll worry, you know? And my Hebrew's very rusty. Would you mind taking a look at it?" she said, sliding the paper over to Puck.(edited)
Puck sat back down and clicked his tongue, "Yeah, I know what'cha mean... I've seen the posters around Campus... You got any news of him?" He didn't mention how much he laughed when he first saw them, since Rachel really seemed upset, but he couldn't quite hide a smile at the memory and he covered his mouth and coughed to make up for the inadequate gesture. He looked back at her as he sipped his coffee, his brows knitting as she went on talking. Puck shook his head, "It's no problem, but I've never heard of them-" he stopped talking as Rachel handed him the card, his brow raising as he read the writing in Hebrew out loud. "You said a Bloodline company sent you this?" he asked quirking a brow and looking back at her. "'Cause this just says 'Our greatest treasure, our granddaughter'..." he slid the card back to her, a questioning look on his features. "You have any idea what's that about?"
Rachel shook her head. "No, not yet. I'm still hopeful, though," she said. She decided to drop the subject. She knew Puck was a slayer, but wasn't sure about his stance on LN, so it might be better to steer away from the subject. No matter how much she wanted him to help them find Kurt. She frowned when Puck told her what the message meant. "Are you sure?" she asked, picking up the card and looking at it. "It can't be. That doesn't make sense. Are you sure you translated it properly? Or they have the wrong person. That has to be it," she said. That didn't explain how the first package wished her a happy birthday and appeared on her birthday.
"Yeah, well, good luck with that," Puck said, unable to keep the irony out of his tone as he raised his brows. If he had been sucked by the doors like the L.N. in the Guild's headquarters, he was almost sure there was no way Kurt was coming back. He squeezed Rachel's hand and gave her a small smile to encourage her. "I'm sorry. Didn't know you guys were close. If you need help or whatever..." he trailed off and shrugged his shoulder as he let go of her hand and sat back on his chair, sipping his coffee once more. Puck scoffed and nodded. "Positive. My family's big on learning our Hebrew. Something about keeping our roots strong and all." He leaned in again and pointed at the words. "See, these ones here are 'greatest', 'treasure' and 'granddaughter'..." he explained looking into her eyes. "You sure your grandparents didn't buy you something from that Asterismos company? Do they make, like, jewlery or something? Maybe fancy clothes?" Puck's head tilted. "Wrong person? A'ight, I gotta ask... what's this all about?"
Rachel took a deep breath. "I don't really know what the company does. Sam told me they made... luck potions, I think? Something like that," she said. "I really don't know what this is about, honestly. The messages don't really sound like they'd come from my grandparents. It's not really their style," she said. "I went to see Professor Corcoran - her parents own Asterismos - but she was kind of unhelpful. I don't know why someone there would send me these things. Like I said, they might have just sent the packages to the wrong person. I don't know."
Puck sighed and shook his head. "I dunno, have you thought about going directly to the company? Maybe they can tell you who or why they sent it? Have you even searched it online or something?" Puck took one of his burner phones out of his pocket and handed it to Rachel. "Search the company and call 'em, if you want," he offered. "Don't ask why, but it's an untraceable line. It's safe."
Rachel took the burner phone and looked at it, knowing it was better not to ask. "I, um... Yeah, maybe that would be a good idea. I think I'm going to talk to my dads first, though. Just to see," she said. "Thank you for your help, Puck. I really do appreciate it," she said. "Would you mind... maybe not telling anyone about this? I don't really want rumours getting out."
"Hey, you do what'cha gotta do, and when you're done with the phone you just bring it back and I'll take care of the rest, alright?" Puck gave her a reassuring nod and a smile, chuckling as she asked to keep his mouth shut. "Hey, my lips are sealed. You can trust me," he added with a wink. "Just let me know how it turns out and, y'know... be careful and shit." Puck smiled at her once more.
Rachel nodded and tucked the phone and the card into her pocket. "I will. I'll take care of the phone, I promise," she told him. She reached over to squeeze his hand. "Thank you so much, Puck. Again, I really appreciate this. I should... go. I have to look for Kurt some more. We'll have to catch up later, okay?"
Puck smirked. "It's fine. I got others," he shrugged. He squeezes her hand back and shook his head. "No need to thank me. Us the chosen ones have to stick up for each other, right?" Puck nodded his head as he let go of her hand. "I hope you find your friend soon," he said simcerely, even if he didn't think they would. "You call me if you need anything, 'kay?"
Rachel nodded. "I hope so too. I'll call you, I promise. Thanks again. I'll see you later, Puck," she said before standing up and walking towards the exit. She had her answer, but all it had managed to do was give her more questions. She would just have to ask the two people who could actually give her a substantial answer.
Santana: [She didn’t really want to be with people, but being alone in her room also didn’t help. She hated that this was actually affecting her. Because, of course, how could it not? Maybe if she was human and could consider this some far away thing that only happend to monsters. She walked around the hospital, wanting to visit the people there. But who would want to see her anyway? She was just there pretending to take a walk around and trying to decide if to enter or to go back to her room.]
