We went on an unique adventure with a fellow Jeeper this past weekend. After meeting up in the Organ Pipe campground, we took off early the next morning and drove Puerto Blanco and Pozo Nuevo roads to the infamous El Camino Del Diablo. It travels westward from the Monument into the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. This was a very remote drive through the miles and miles of desert. We saw miles of sand, cacti, grave markers, lava flows, dried lake beds, remote border patrol bases, old cantinas, wells and even this awesome spring fed lake. If you decide to do this, read up on the permits required, check the weather and prepare appropriately.
