Plumwell’s Christmas
The last sights and sounds Prince Plumwell remembered before drifting off were of Mommy and Daddy talking about something called ‘Christmas’. The only images that came to his mind were of bright, colorful and pretty lights, a tree, and a story. He loved when Mommy read stories. Especially when Daddy joined in making silly faces and sounds with Mommy. Big sis Vanellope would join in too! Laughing until you fell asleep was fun. Now, Plumwell rolled over and wriggled out of the sheets he got tangled in during the night. It was early morning as there were birds still chirping and light still beamed from his window on to the floor of his bedroom. No longer was he sleeping in a crib, but a bed with a raised railing so he wouldn’t fall out while he slept. The Nursery changed over the months to be more like a young Prince’s bedroom. He did see there was something different about the bedroom today. In the bed next to him was a knitted pillow. It was purple, gold and felt kinda lumpy. It was discovered to be fun to pat at since it squeaked when little hands pushed on the pillow. Looking about, he saw the window now held paper shapes in what looked like sugar snow flakes that casted their shadows on the carpet floor. All around the tops of the walls was this sparkly white and almost fuzzy looking snake that trailed down the sides of the doorway out of his bedroom. At the top of the door way hung a big red bow made of red shiny hard candy. This all looked pretty and made his tummy rumble. Must be breakfast time. Without further ado, he crawled out bed and headed for the doorway. He didn’t get too much further away until he heard heavy foot falls. “Mama?” he babbled out with a quiet yawn following suit. Turning about to see who was coming. “Eyas squirt! Ya headed to breakfast?” the big sis asked of her younger brother. “Vaaaaan!” he squeaked with delight in seeing it was his big sis. “Uh-huh! Num-nums!” he concurred, pointing down the hall that lead to the place where the tasty smells and foods were located. “Alrigh~ty then! Oof! You’re gettin to weigh as much as Stinkbrain!” Vanellope joked as she picked up her brother so he could get to num-nums faster. He squeaked and wrapped his arms around the back of his big sis’s neck to hold on. “Vaaan Gli! Gli! Gli!” he patted the girl’s back. “Naw, no ‘glitchin’ to breakfast today squirt!” she piped, “Gotta get ready for Christmas and I can’t wear myself out early.” “Krea-mus?” he tried to echo back. Was that a toy? He got distracted from thinking when he was plopped into his high chair. “There ya go! I gotta run now kiddo, but I’ll be seenin ya later, alright?” she gently ruffled his red hair and made sure to look right at him. He looked at her and smiled wide with a giggle in response. “Buh-buh!” he waved and Vanellope nodded before leaving. Within moments, Plumwell’s breakfast was being served by his Mommy. “Good morning my Prince! Who’s hungry?” Mommy happily greeted her son while placing dishes down on his tray. “Plummm! Plummml!” he clapped and bounced in his seat while laughing. “What’s that? Mommy can’t hear you, I think she’s got cotton candy in her ears.” she pretended to dig into her ears as though they were stuffed with cotton candy. How did Mommy get cotton candy in her ears? She so silly! Cupping his hands to his mouth, just like he’d seen his Daddy do, and shouted, “PLUMMMMM! PLUMMMMM!” Mommy then laughed and patted Plumwell on the head. “Oh, you’re getting so big! Pretty soon, you’ll be wearing Daddy’s jingling shoes.” Mommy looked happy and...sad. Plumwell was confused and reached out to pat Mommy on the shoulder. Mommy looked to her son and looked all happy again after he patted her hand. Plumwell smiled and giggled. Mommy then fed Plumwell breakfast and spent time with him. ~*Sometime later into the afternoon*~ Prince Plumwell awoke again for the second time today. Stretching out, his little hand hit the squeaky and lumpy knit pillow. Yawning a little, he was full of energy again. Hanging out with Mommy was fun. Getting to see big sis Vanellope was fun. Where was Daddy though? Looks like he’d have to go finding Daddy again. Daddy’s always getting lost. Walking/running out of his bedroom, Plumwell noticed something different about the rest of his home. The halls had shiny things and round colorful balls hanging off of them. There were green Lifesavers with red sprinkles and bows seen hanging on the hallway walls too. He didn’t remember seeing this stuff before. The air though smelt REALLY tasty today. His tummy wasn’t rumbling right now though. Walking his way down the varying halls, he passed alot of busy candy peoples. There seemed to be alot more of them running around and it was hard to hear where Daddy was. Finally though, after a few hall ways, Plumwell heard jingling. Daddy! He kicked up his little feet faster towards the room where the jingling was coming from. Alas, when he got to the open doorway, he didn’t see Daddy. What he saw though did look interesting. Stepping inside, he saw a group of candy peoples waving shiny jingle thingies. They looked fun! He wanted one too. Lucky for him, there was a table with a bunch of them on there. Heading over to the table, he realized the table was too tall for him to reach the jingle thingies. Reaching hands out in front of him, his finger tips glowed and the jingle thingies began to glow too. All the jingle thingies lifted up into the air. Waving his hands back and forth, a LOT of jingling rang through out the room. All the candy peoples laughed and giggled upon seeing who was playing with the jingle thingies. “Plumwell!” called out Daddy as he scooped up his son, “You know BETTA than to play with something that isthn’t yours.” Uh-oh, Daddy didn’t sound happy. Daddy talked to the candy peoples in the room and saying ‘sorry’ since all the jingly thingies fell when Plumwell was picked up. Once they were outside of the room, Daddy set Plumwell down on his feet and Daddy kneeled down to Plumwell’s level. Daddy was looking at Plumwell, but Plumwell was trying to stare back into the room where the pretty jingling was coming from. Plumwell felt Daddy gently get Plumwell’s attention by placing his hands on either of the boy’s shoulders. “Now, Plumwell, what were you doing in the music room, hm?” Pointing at the music room, Plumwell attempted to tell his Dad of the pretty jingly things that were room by making several long noises. Looking over his shoulder back at the room and then back to Plumwell, Daddy smiled, nodded, and stood up while taking Plumwell’s hand. “Well, thosthe ARE rather nice bells, ahoo! But!” Daddy lead Plumwell down the hallway, “You’re gunna get ta sthee A LOT more than just ‘silver bells’. You’re gunna get to do sthome holiday riding with me! How’sth that sound?” Plumwell smiled and babbled, “Aaaabbbaarooo!” while gesturing wide with his arms. Daddy smiled and chuckled while standing back up. Gently taking Plumwell’s hand, he lead his son to the echo-y rooms filled with karts. Once Plumwell was situated in his riding seat, Daddy began turning the round circle and moving the candycane stick around. Thought Plumwell’s attentions went to the windows of the kart as soon as it was out onto the open roads. All around outside was white stuff and pretty lights and prettier things everywhere! The rest of the evening blurred together as Plumwell saw many interesting and new interests, things and even learned what bells were. By the time he was snuggled up next to Mommy, he could barely keep his eyes open. Big sis Vanellope had given Plumwell his very own silver bell to play. It sat on his dresser along with a few other treasures from the evening’s events. The best part of today though? When his Mommy and Daddy wished him a ‘Merry Christmas’, Plumwell said, “Maaaa-reeee Kiiismaaa!” and Big sis Vanellope laughed and repeated what Plumwell said. Mommy and Daddy laughed too. A small yawn escaped as a young redhead laid himself to bed. “Good night and Merry Christmas Plumwell.” he heard Mommy said.
