"Good to see you, Dom," he replied, gripping the other man's shoulder briefly. Shit, when did Dom begin to wear his age? Hoffman could remember the night of Operation: Leveler, of Dom being only a boy who didn't yet know his daughter had been born. Damn this war for forcing our boys onto the field. Dom should have been able to enjoy his family.
"How's life in Delta? Keeping the peace between the two blowhards?" It was no secret to anyone that Dom was one of Hoffman's favorites--he tried not to play favorites within ranks, but damn it all, Dom was too good of a kid not to like--and they shared an extensive war history. He was one of the few Hoffman could speak his mind to and feel comfortable about it. "I imagine Baird's been keeping it lively," he said, his lips taking on the rare form of a grin.
