Busy mamas pump on the go 🤷🏼♀️😂
Conference Call Hand Expression - #pumpingprofessionalmama I left the office at 3:40 with aching boobs and a WebEx scheduled for 4pm. Thank Goodness my company doesn't expect video! And why yes, my desk does double as my sewing table LOL
This is where I work guys. This massive building that currently hosts 1000+ employees as of last month. There is ONE room designated for pumping moms. There are currently THREE+ moms who pump in this facility. I don't care to share a pump room. I really don't, as long as we go in at the same time and leave at the same time, and no one outside of us is seeing my boobs, I am perfectly fine pumping in the room with another mama. But when I need to pump, I need to pump. It is not good to wait. Today I found out that the one room they've designated for us, they also use for a RN who comes WEEKLY to do B12 shots. After this week it won't be an issue because she will be gone before I need to go for my first pump, but today I waited 30 minutes for her to leave before asking my supervisor if there was somewhere else for me pump. There isn't. The HR lady told my supervisor to tell me to wait until the RN left, or to go pump in the bathroom. Yes, you read that right, the bathroom. As you can guess, that did not fly with me. I looked my supervisor (whom I've never even spoken to as I was just assigned to her team this week) straight in the eye and said, 'Absolutely not. For one, pumping in the bathroom is disgusting. There are all kinds of germs in the bathroom that my pump and my milk would come into contact with. For two, I have an electric pump; I have to have an electrical outlet in order to pump, so I wouldn't be able to pump in the bathroom anyways. For three, I've waited 30 minutes past the time the RN was supposed to leave and she's still here. I'm not waiting any longer. You find me somewhere to pump or I'll plug in at my cubicle and everyone can watch while I make sure I get the milk my kid lives off of right now.' So now I'm sitting in a nice cushy office off of the HR building. The receptionist told me if the designated room is ever occupied and I need to pump to just come straight to her and she will find me somewhere to pump because she has access to every door in the building. 🙏🏼 (And of course even though my boobs felt like they were about to bust my right boob produced less than half an ounce and my left boob is going to give me MAYBE two ounces. I am counting down the days to Sebastian's birthday)
Mama probs
It's getting really hard for me to pump. Aiden wakes up whenever I turn the pump on. He's getting really upset about me pumping lately. He's been pulling the pump off or the cord with suction out or screaming and just generally trying to get me to stop. Even if he's eating on one side and I'm pumping the other, he'll stop and try to get the pump off my boob! I don't know what to do because I need to pump more than just when I'm on break at work to have enough milk for him to drink while I'm gone (and to relieve pressure before/after I go to work).
