Christmas Surprise
Merry Christmas! Thank you for all your amazing work and being a lovely person!
Work, work, work. How were you supposed to do anything with all this work? You didn’t even know where it all came from. It was already two weeks into December and you hadn’t had time to decorate the house, which then made you feel even sadder. This was your favourite holiday and it was fast running away from you.
Getting up in the dark, going home in the dark just made you feel even more exhausted and when Crocodile was deep in his own work you felt empty and alone.
Another long day over and done with, you wrapped your scarf around your face and slowly pulled on your coat. Sighing as you headed to the door, gingerly you reached for the handle the cold from the outside radiating through the door. You shivered terribly as you pulled the door open and the cold frosty air attacked you. Snow had started to fall hours ago and it was settling already. Your shoulders slumped forward as you reluctantly stepped out into the frozen tundra. Burying your face into the thick scarf around your neck trying to stave off the bitter cold air. Trudging through the snow made your walk home even longer and made home so much further away. Once you had completed that horrible journey and reached your home, the lights were off but Daz greeted you from the shadows making you jump a foot off the ground.
“Daz- Seriously- why are the lights outs?” you asked shrugging off your coat and shaking the snow from your hair,
“Boss wants to see you after you’ve had a bath,” he said simply “It’s ran and clothes prepared for you” he added and guided you up the stairs making sure you went straight to the en-suite bathroom.
This was all very suspicious. The bathroom was dimly lit and a change of clothes were laid out warming on the heated towel rail. The warm bath was so wonderfully welcoming helping to thaw out your frozen bones. You soaked in the bath, letting the warmth of the water settle in before you even considered getting out. Once dried and dressed in nice toasty warm clothes you exited the bathroom jumping as Daz made his presence known again.
“Daz! Please stop doing that,” you begged trying to calm your racing heart.
“Sorry,” he said flatly “boss is waiting.” he lead you off without much concern leading you back down the big staircase and towards the living where light could be seen seeping out from under the door. He opened the door for you letting the light spill out. Your eyes slowly adjusted to the sudden brightness as you entered the room. Blinking through the lights you stood in awe.
The huge living room was decorated lavishly. A grand tree stood in the corner beautiful decorated in red and golden trimmings, matching beads and baubles hung from it’s branches. Stockings hung next to the fireplace with care, including the dark green one you had purchased last year for Crocodile.
Sat in his favourite chair with a smug grin pulling at his lips. He rose from the chair and walked over to you reaching to touch at your cheek dipping to kiss you softly.
“You did all this?” you asked still in wonderment of the room.
“Bentham helped,” he admitted rising to his full height “you’ve been sad and I know you like this holiday,” he handed you a large glittering star “I saved this for you. My star, my angel. It is only fitting that you place this star on top.”
You smiled brightly as you took the ornament from him, though a squeak left your lips and Crocodile lifted you onto his shoulder carrying you to the tree helping you place the finishing touches onto the tree. He set you down carefully as you marveled at the completed tree and you turned to hug him tightly
“This- this was such a surprise,” you looked up at him with a wide grin “thank you so much.”
“Anything for you my sweet Miho,” he dipped to kiss you again “Merry Christmas.”
