Fun fact. Strickwani is my 911 lone star crackship. I love them together. They fill my friends to lovers, soul mates loving heart in a very special way. Would i have wanted them together in canon? No. But in fanon. They just hit a special sort of way.
So getting to write a story where they are newly engaged and spending Kwanzaa together in Chicago with Paul's family is just a special kind of delightful. Especially because I get to explore Paul's family more, what a intercultural holiday looks like for Paul and Marjan. Plus I get to spend way to much time researching and googling which as you know is one of my favorite things because I love world building to an excessive degree.
