U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

genji shimada (overwatch) - WOW there’s so much i love abt genji idek where to start tbh!! he’s definitely a character that’s been developed rly well– from egocentric playboy to someone with trouble finding himself and who he is (which is smth i’ve definitely related to, to some extent) to someone who is content w/ and at peace with who he is which is something lots of ppl (myself included) strive for!! and seeing him attain that self-love and acceptance makes me feel. so soft and hopeful and happy for where i’m gonna be in the future, bc the future is smth that i think abt a lot.. tbh he’s just an incredible character on top of being just a rly kind and funny person in general.. he’s wizened so much from who he was and it’s incredible.. i feel like he’d give good advice and be wise and kind and comforting and. i just want him to hold me ok. he’s also so!! forgiving, esp in regards to what hanzo’s done and the fact that he’s chosen to do so is compassion beyond compare and gives me hope for second chances… i love genji

orihime inoue (bleach) - orihime is just!! someone i’ve identified w/ a lot growing up ever since i picked up bleach!! she’s always been so kind and supportive and strong (even if it’s not in a physical sense) and is definitely a character i’ve always strived to be like.. i’ve always loved how she wanted to always protect her friends, and how her love and compassion for others always made her stronger, and how she never had to become cold or hard or stop being as caring and loving as she was in order for her character to develop!! seeing her be so positive inspired me to be that way too and watching her grow and develop was sooo important to me!! even her negative traits, like her self-worth issues and comparing herself to others i came to identify with and found comfort in doing so… all in all identifying w/ her always gave me hope for the future, esp w/ how her familial situation was– though mine wasn’t nearly as bad, her love for her older brother and her alcoholic father always hit really close to home for me.. yet she remained positive and she’s just so amazing for it!! even though there are times i’ve lost interest in bleach i always kept on (even subtly) in the hopes of her getting her happy ending– she’s been hurting and fighting for so long, she’s always deserved a soft epilogue and now that she’s got it i couldn’t be happier!! i’ve just always identified w/ her and held her near and dear to my heart and i’m so happy w/ how things turned out for her!! it gives me hope for my own future, in a way :’) it’s horrible that so much of the fandom hates her (esp for misogynistic/shipping-related reasons..) and tbh seeing hate for her is so unsettling. and also the reason i have 148 ppl blocked lmao

ara haan (elsword) - i’m not sure why i was drawn to ara the first time my cousin showed me elsword but hooo boy i got attached super fast– despite kog’s inability to rly flesh out their characters (barring maybe add)!! i loved how determined she was to find her brother and save him from giving into darkness bc like orihime characters driven by love make me so happy!! and the fact that it’s familial love is what rly got me bc i love my family a lot too!! idk i think the fact that she had traits i related to a lot are what made me love her more and more: wanting to help and please people, being shy, being clumsy, and feeling insecure when it came to her negative traits. but!! remaining kind and positive through it all is what landed her a spot in my heart!! esp recently i’ve found myself identifying w/ a lot of her traits and actions and story– esp the fact that she constantly strived to be perfect in her past so that nobody could hold any faults against her– which is something i used to do until just recently, and still struggle with a bit, but having a character to identify w/ through it all rly brings me comfort.. even w/ all her faults, her friends still love her for her kindness and compassion and who she is and that gives me comfort when it comes to knowing that all my friends (like u, dae ♥) love n care abt me flaws and all!! she’s so good i love her
