P.D.E Advice on Being Late for Work

Life happens…trains run late…we sleep through alarm clocks or sometimes are just stuck in a dream.. Although this is completely unacceptable in the work world, don’t be so hard on yourself P.D.E! Remember we are only human! The next step is to restore balance in the force the way a P.D.E would. Remember we are always good but just a little bit bad so honestly is really the best policy.

Be honest with your employer. Explain and apologize why you are late

“I lost track of time Snapchating my walk to work”

——if the employer doesn’t understand——

Explain how your brain is different and you struggle daily

“ I struggle every day with things “normal people” have control over. I am really bad with number and clocks confuse me but I am trying my best to improve this imperfection.”

——if the employer still doesn’t understand——

Try to make up the loss time

“I am so sorry and it will never happen again. I will make sure to stay 6 minutes and 24 seconds longer tonight”

——if the employer really still does not get it——

Own who you are and come to a fair compromise to resolve the issue

“I am always good  but sometimes I am a little bit bad. I will sit in the corner facing the wall wearing a dunce hat and WILL NOT MOVE until you say so.”
