Is There Like, A Socially Acceptable Way To Compliment People?

I have never understood how to compliment people without feeling like I’m being a creep, is there some trick I’m not getting?

I’m asexual, so I have literally no desire to do anything other than be nice and cheer someone up or just make their day a little bit better. I’ll see someone with a fresh haircut that looks good, or a jacket that suits them really well, or someone with really well-behaved kids or something and I feel like I have a pretty solid handle on this kind of thing for someone with Autism, but I just haven’t figured it out yet.

Guess I’ll just keep trying to be nice when I get the opportunity and gauge peoples’ reactions? Wish me luck :P
