6 have sunk into The Sea of Misery
"Breathing air is hard.." A disgruntled Mizuko mumbled to herself. This was the first time in eight years that she had gathered courage to leave her watery home. After debating for most of the day whether she should go, in the end she swam to the surface before she could change her mind. The sudden shift between breathing in water to breathing in air was rather painful. Swimming to shore was a bit of a struggle as well, seeing as the waves were strong today and her limbs were rather weak after all these years.
Her next problem was actually reaching the shore. Mizuko experienced the cold for the first time in a while and the contribution of being drenched from head to toe was making it even colder. She sat upon the sandy bank, shivering and breathing heavily; Maybe this was a bad idea. Still, the tealnette was determined to at least do something out of the water just to see what she was missing out on in the real world.
Standing up, she began to take baby steps across the muddy sand although she failed rather miserably. Within just taking three steps, she collapsed onto the sand with a small whine of annoyance. Pushing herself up again, Mizuko took her time to walk by taking at least a minute or so just to take one step forward. Soon enough, the girl began to make progress by awkwardly hobbling onto dryer sand. While she was proud for being able to walk now, she still had to deal with the icy cold and the diffuculty of breathing foreign air. Her lungs just weren’t working very well with the oxygen surrounding her.
Mizuko’s teeth chattered as she continued to walk against the bitter wind, taking in short gasps of air in a feeble attempt to adjust her lungs to the new air. She saw a dark figure in the distance that was a little far from her but it gave her a little bit of hope. That all quickly disappeared however when her body couldn't handle the sudden change in the atmosphere. With a faltered breath, her knees gave in beneath her and she fainted.
