New Year's Purgordo
Been pretty ill lately but had a break in it this afternoon (somewhat, still had abdominal muscle spasms) so qpp and I went out and did some purgordo (public tidying) by picking up trash on about a mile of our road. We hope to do the other mile another time when my health is hopefully doing a little better for a stretch. The sunset was definitely our reward. It was gorgeous.
I liked how it seemed to cheer people up to see us out with our little grabbers picking up trash. One neighbor stopped us, thanked us, and showed off a quilt top she'd just finished - it was so pretty! Other neighbors passed and gave kind waves and appreciative beeps. It means a lot to me. We're pretty obviously queer. People talk around it and call us friends but they know. So to be treated kindly on the street I grew up on, especially when we're out together, it's really nice.
People think of the south as pure hell for queer and trans folks but it's a lot more complicated than that.
Anyways, with being sick, I've been extra motivated to get out and do whatever virtuous actions I can when I'm able. I hope you don't keep putting off a kindness. Nothing is guaranteed to us and damn it feels nice.
