Interesting info: this song was written for the official Hatsune Miku YouTube channels revival. An effort to get that channel moving again after the western audience grew. It has now also been performed live with its own model at the Hatsune Miku: BLOOMING show.
Which is really interesting, as not many songs get custom models unless they are a flagship song for the show or have a project diva model to reuse. Not even Mesmerizer got this treatment. The likely reason is because Psi is already a commissioned song, so they can do what they want with it.
Also a cool detail I want to mention about the live is that the eyes on her dress begin to glow after “You have just touched my right hand!”
The original PV, drawn by Hakyu and edited by Aise Manami, has many neat details. The stillness of the video coincides with the theming of the song. “Mass media consumption”. The PV starts off with a still image of Miku, smugly smiling at the listener. It stays this way until the second verse, with only occasional facial changes. The long instrumental intro pushing a brain rotted listener to want to “skip ahead to the best part”… But Miku is there reminding you to “don’t touch my right hand.”… Aka, skipping ahead 10 seconds.
My thoughts: I LOVE VOCALOID MUSIC ABOUT MEDIA CONSUMPTION!! Everyone’s been hitting so good lately. Psi specifically works really well in that it is NOT trying to hide it behind flashy colors like say.. Mesmerizer… it’s DIRECT. And the PV forces you to at least pay attention to the first verse and chorus because there’s nothing else going on, unlike Mesmerizer where everyone missed the dang point cus they were entranced by the PV. R-906 knocked it out of the park with this.
