Knowing my place...
It’s amazing how when working in an ER, sometimes it runs like an amazing pit crew. The doctor, mid-level, nurse, tech, phlebotomist, etc all work together to care for the patient and collaborate about what should come next. Then there are times when you are faced with providers who would rather let their arrogance and ego run the show than actually listen to someone who is “below” them. I have been faced with this so many times recently I could scream. I honestly feel like my new favorite sarcastic catch phrase is “I’m just the nurse.” I mean, why would you not want to have a respectful relationship with the people you work with. Why would you go OUT OF YOUR WAY to make others feel dumb or incompetent when they are literally there to do your bidding?? I just wish some people in general could pull their heads out of their asses and realize that when you stop listening to those around you and are no longer teachable, you have no business practicing at any profession.
