It's the last feature of our RAGBRAI preview! This year's end point on the Mississippi is Davenport. Everywhere along the Mississippi has a rich archaeological history, and Scott County is no exception. This Hopewell (Middle Woodland) zoned pot is from the Cook Farm Mounds in Davenport. It is at the Putnam Museum and is featured as Plate 8 in Lynn Alex's "Iowa's Archaeological Past." We also have replicas of this pot in our teaching collections and "Early Farmers and Traders: Iowa 2000 Years Ago" trunks!
