Atemu opened his eyes and groaned softly. He saw the darkness and what appeared to be the wall. He was lying on his stomach with his arms under his pillow. Pulling himself up to find the clock on the desk, he blinked till he could read it clearly.
3:27am
“Too early.” He grunted and plopped himself back on the bed, this time, facing the other person who lied in bed with him. A sleepy smile formed as he looked at Yugi who looked undisturbed by Atemu’s fall back onto the bed.
But just as quickly as Atemu assumed that, Yugi groaned and shifted slightly, one of his hands moved to the blanket that rested on his chest. With a small whimper, he tightened his grip on the fabric, and was still once more.
“Always holding onto it.” Atemu whispered as he looked at Yugi’s hand.
Almost every night Yugi would reach for that spot, where a metal chain and the Millenium Puzzle once rested. Atemu once was a spirit trapped in the puzzle, it was a cold prison to him, but every night Yugi would hold onto it and the former pharaoh would sense a warm feeling in him. It was like a hug or a cup of hot chocolate on a winter night. That puzzle was a prison some days, but really what that item was...no did for him made him smile bigger.
“Because of you…” Atemu placed his hand on Yugi’s. “I am free. The puzzle brought us together, bonded us, two completely different souls, working as one.” A finger found the object that rested on Yugi’s finger. “Now this bonds us together.”
Atemu scooted closer to Yugi, making sure not to disturb him of course, but just wanting to snuggle close to his… “Partner, Friend, lover, and husband.” He smiled and kissed Yugi’s cheek before resting on Yugi’s shoulder and nuzzling his neck. “I love you. Yesterday, today, and always.”
Yugi once again shifted, taking a deep breath, his hand moved and intertwined his fingers with Atemu’s. “I love you too.” He whispered softly.
“I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“The pain in my shoulder is what did.” Yugi’s eyes stayed closed but he stuck his tongue out.
“Ha-ha.” Atemu moved more so he was laying on Yugi’s chest then shoulder. “Better?”
Wrapping his arm around Atemu’s shoulder, giving him a small embrace before sighing once more. “Much. Now go back to sleep or I’ll make you cook breakfast in the morning.”
Atemu chuckled. “Yes sir.” He let out one more content sigh before closing his eyes allowing sleep to take over, still holding onto the hand that gave him warmth, comfort, and love.
Atem slowly opened his eyes, feeling heat and radiation around him. He knew if it was a normal human being the radiation would have killed him already, but he was safe here. Slowly, he was able to use his hand, feeling returning to his limbs. He patted the scales under him, weight lifting as he felt Godzilla's hot breath blow over him.
The oddly comforting growls of his mental voice came to Atem, asking if he was alright. He apologized for making them die, but Atem soothed him. He didn't mind, but he wanted what they both did. Rest, and then to return to their Queen. Atem already missed Yugi's slimer body beside him, closing his eyes to try and imagine him beside him.
Godzilla shifted his head, laying it closer to his human. He told a small joke, saying death wasn't good enough to keep them, and Atem laughed weakly, his lungs weak from starting the breathing process again.
"Resurrection sucks ass," He said aloud as he closed his eyes, "I can't wait to get back to our Yugi and Mothra."
Yes I did it! I am finishing puzzle June hardcore! I promised myself I would and so I am doing it! Day 12 is done! Post canon Atemu with my headcanon of Atemu having PTSD of some form.

TW of a Panic Attack!
He knew it was happening, he felt his breathing getting deeper as he prepared dinner. Atemu fought it though! Playing music and throwing out the green peppers he was going to cook with dinner. He knew it was stupid, the color green would sometimes effect him. A fight or flight instinct, his therapist said.
But no matter what he did Atemu felt it coming, and soon the panic attack began, his eyes watered and his breathing was all but gone.
“Yugi…” He swallowed the lump in his throat as he reached for his phone. His voice was too low so he could only text the other.
‘Help’
Was all he could send before collapsing to his knees.
Yugi stretched his arms in the air, relaxing into the swivel chair, as he finally finished his homework. As he inhaled he could smell the aroma of the dinner Atemu had started. Which he vaguely remembered a knock on the door and the baritone voice saying he would be starting it. Closing his eyes, Yugi imagined what Atemu had decided to make. It smelled like peppers, onions, he hoped it was not shallots.
A small buzz on the desk startled him from his thoughts. His phone was faced down, on vibrate, which was how he kept himself from being distracted. As he picked it up and opened it, his eyes went wide.
“Atemu!” He stood up as fast as he could and ran to the kitchen. “Atemu!” It didn’t take him long to see the former pharaoh sitting on his knees, gasping for air, tears falling down his face. Knowing exactly what it was, Yugi approached slowly, with a smile. “Hey, it’s me.”
Atemu looked up as he felt a hand on his shoulder. “Yu…” He tried to speak but lost it with a sob.
“Yes. I’m here.” He took Atemu’s hand and gave it a small squeeze. “Can you tell me five things you see.”
With a small nod, Atemu looked at Yugi. “You. Table.” He tried to point behind Yugi at the kitchen table but Yugi held his hand tighter.
“Anything else?”
Another sob and nod. “Floor. Fridge.” His voice was steady. “Chair.”
Yugi smiled. “Good. Now what about four things you can touch.”
Atemu squeezed Yugi’s hand. “You. Shirt.” He reached for Yugi’s shirt. “Floor.” His breathing was slowing down. “My…” The hand on Yugi’s shirt moved to his chest, grabbing the item that rested against it. “Cartouche.”
“Three things that you hear?”
Atemu gave a small smile. “You again. The ice maker.”
Yugi chuckled at that hearing the ice in the freezer fall. “You’re coming back to me, but that’s only two.”
“Me?” His brows furrowed as if that wasn’t a good answer but Yugi’s smile calmed him.
“Yes. Now two things you smell.”
Atemu’s eyes closed and the final tears fell as he focused on the smells around him. “Rice. Onion.”
“Not shallots?”
“Powder.”
Yugi let out a small laugh and repositioned to sit on his knees. “One thing you can taste.”
With his eyes still closed, Atemu’s breathing was back to normal, he leaned forward to take the pressure off his lower half. He captured Yugi’s lips softly with his before resting their forheads together. “You.”
“Welcome back.” Yugi whispered.
“I’m sorry.”
Yugi shook his head. “Don’t be. I was already done and wanted to come down anyway.”
Atemu rubbed his face on Yugi’s shoulder. “Green peppers triggered me. Can you believe that? Peppers!”
“I read anything can trigger it.” Yugi said as he wrapped his arms around Atemu.
“I saw the orichalcos, the green light. I threw the peppers away and I really wanted them.” He laughed as a few tears fell.
Yugi chuckled and rubbed Atemu’s back. “What were you wanting to make?”
“Beef Stew. I got the potatoes cut, the meat has been marinating all day in the fridge. Just wanted some peppers for a nice color.”
“Well-” Yugi took Atemu’s hands and helped him stand. “Why don’t we go to the store and get some yellow and red peppers. It’s just down the street, we’ll be back real quick.” He smiled as he locked eyes with Atemu.
“Dinner will be late.” Atemu pointed out with a smile of his own.
“Not when I help you. Because…” His eyes traveled down to Atemu’s hands, his left ring finger to be exact. His chest tightened at the silver band that matched Yugi’s gold. “...I promised you I would always be here when you need me.”
Atemu’s smile grew. “I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side.”
Like you all saw this coming. Like why did you think I wouldn’t write this??? Like why would you assume I would make this cute and fluffy and about the tickle monster or something??? No! Megan don’t do that! MEGAN GOES DARK!!!

Another night where I lay in bed awake. A nightmare, or a past memory I should say, has pushed its way into my mind. Reminding me of the sins I have committed and the pain I have caused to those I claim to love. How could I do that to them? How could I be so cruel?! When all they were trying to do was help, I in return, hurt them...
The pressure next to me shifts, and it pulls me from my thoughts. I turn my head to see Yugi shifting from his back to his side, facing me now.
"Oh Aibou." I sigh and reach for his face only to be stopped by the horrid green image of him being taken away.
Because of me.
All of it is my fault.
I pull my hand away and just stare at him. His features relaxed, the small smile his lips are forming, and his hair brushing against his forehead. I get to see it all and yet…
I do not deserve it.
I do not deserve the smiles he gives me, nor do I have the honor of hearing his laugh, or hearing him speak any and all words of admiration and love. I do not deserve to be in his presence, for though I once was a King, I am still not worthy of him.
Gods why do you torment me?! I do not deserve him! He deserves better! He deserves more. Not this, not me!
I am pulled from my train of thoughts to feel Yugi pulling himself close to me, snuggling his face into my chest. I hear him speak, but it’s so soft, I have to ask him to repeat himself.
“I love you.”
This time I hear him and the tears I had been fighting finally fall. He loves me, yet I am imperfect. He loves me yet I have hurt him. He loves me though I have wronged him many times. I nearly killed people, I was the reason his grandfather’s soul was taken, I was the reason his friends were hurt and nearly killed! I was the reason he was caught in that fire and he too was near death’s door! I am at fault for the shadows that haunted him, for the nightmares he endures, for the flashbacks. But yet…
He loves me?
I wrap my arms around him and pull his sleeping body close to me. “Oh Yugi.” I whisper in his ear. “I love you too.” And I mean that. I mean it as if it were the last words that would ever come from my mouth.
I love you. I love you. I love you! Even though I do not deserve you, and you deserve better than me. I will always love you. You are the reason I am here and still fighting.
But as I begin to fall asleep, the faces of those who haunt my nightmares and remind me of the reality I live, begin to form behind my closed eyelids. There they smirk at me as they take pleasure in my torture.
Dartz, Raphael, Marik’s dark side, even the spirit of the Ring, they all remind me of the pain I have caused, that all the issues everyone of my friends and loved ones have, is my fault.
It’s all my fault.
“You’re right.” I finally respond to their voices. “I am nothing more than a monster.”
Oh my gosh I am going to try my best to do as many as I can but writer’s block is still eating me from the inside out.
Day 1 is here though! Reunion, and it’s a lot different then I think you might think.
Summary: Atemu can’t find his tie! Thank goodness he has friends and partner to help him find it!
AO3 Post
Atemu let out an annoyed grunt as he got on his stomach and looked under a chair. “I can’t find it Joey!” He grumbled. “Are you sure you grabbed it from the house?”
“Yes I did!” Joey replied as he placed the blue cushion he held back onto the small couch. He watched his steps as he moved away to give Atemu room as he began to stand up. “At least I think I did.”
“I need my tie Joey.” Atemu was frustrated and his tone did not mean to come out as harsh as it did.
Running a hand through his dishwater blonde hair, Joey let out a small sigh. “I can go get one of my spares if you-”
“No Joey, I need that tie, specifically.”
As he was just about to head to the door Joey stopped mid step at Atemu’s words. “Why?” He gave a confused look as he turned back towards the former pharaoh.
“Because…” Atemu paused for a moment as he looked around the small room., just big enough to allow four to five people movement. There was a standing mirror placed in the right corner closer to a window, the couch and chair sat caddy corner of one another, and the carpet under their feet was an off cream and brown color. The walls were a weird floral wallpaper that honestly hurt his eyes if he stared too long. He finally met Joey’s worried gaze and sighed. “That was the first tie Yugi ever helped me with, after I came back, the day I asked him out.”

Yugi was invited to an exclusive Kaiba Corp Party held for all game developers and testers who wanted to try out the newest and latest games before they were even out for beta. Seto Kaiba himself picked who was allowed to test the games of course. Atemu was not one of those picked, but he was going for Yugi.
“I don’t want to go alone.” Yugi said as he finished buttoning up his white dress shirt.
Atemu shook his head as he pulled his dark grey dress pants on. “You would be fine without me.” He pulled his shirt on and began to button it as well.
Yugi remained quiet for a moment as he finished dressing himself and doing up his tie. “I know, I know I can be, but…” He turned to face Atemu who was looking over himself in the mirror. “I want to include you because I want to, not because I can’t do it.”
The tone was different and Atemu turned to the other and smiled. “I worded that wrong. I know you can do it without me, I have always known you can do anything without me hovering over you, or around constantly. What I meant was thank you for allowing me to still be part of your life.”
Yugi’s facial features relaxed. “I want you in my life so long as you want to be here.”
“I wouldn’t have come back if I didn’t want to be here.” Atemu straightened up his jacket, smoothing out the creases, before doing a small spin. “Ready when you are.”
With a chuckle Yugi shook his head. “No you’re not. Kaiba will kill you if you show up without a tie.”
“But I don’t have a tie and what if I want to piss Kaiba off?” He smirked and flexed his chest out a little.
Yugi rolled his eyes and walked to his closet once again. “I am not surprised by that answer. I do have one you can borrow though.” He rummaged through the closet for a moment before pulling out a navy blue and grey striped tie. “Here ya go.”
Atemu looked at the offered tie. “I already am borrowing your suit, I couldn’t-”
“I have plenty Atemu. Take it.”
With one more look from Yugi’s eyes to the tie, Atemu took the tie and gave an apologetic smile. “Thank you.” He turned back to the mirror as he was draped the tie around his neck, but paused mid way, realizing he didn’t know how to tie it.
Yugi watched the former pharaoh fiddle with the tie before burst out in laughter. “Come here.” He motioned in the mirror for him to turn around, which Atemu did willingly. “The great pharaoh of Egypt doesn’t know how to tie a simple knot?”
“You fail to remember I didn’t need this type of formal wear.” Atemu responded as Yugi began the simple process of tying.
“I am only teasing you Mou Hitori no Boku.” Yugi winked with a smirk.
Atemu’s heart skipped a beat at the nickname, Yugi didn’t call him that as much as he used to, but when he did, it made Atemu warm inside. He watched Yugi finish the tie and caught his hands before he pulled them away.
“Will you go out with me?” He didn’t even realize he spoke the words until Yugi repeated them.
“Go out with you? I mean, yeah, we are about to leave right now.”
“No I mean go out with me.”
Atemu had emphasized the wording this time and with that Yugi’s eyes went wide. “You mean like a date?”
With a small nod he squeezed Yugi’s hands that still remained near his neck, lightly. “Like a date.” Repeating Yugi’s words was all Atemu could really do.
It took Yugi a few moments to process all that was said, but not once did he break their eye contact, searching Atemu’s crimson eyes for any sign of...something really! He didn’t know what, but when he felt the hands holding his loosen he gave his reply.
“Yeah.” The one word sentence was barely audible.
‘Wow that was smooth Yugi.’ He cursed himself.
“Yes?” Atemu quirked a brow with a confused look on his face.
Yugi nodded and swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. “Yes. I would like to go on a date with you.”
“Good. Uhm, we are going to be late, so we should probably.” Atemu stepped away, dropping both Yugi’s hands and the eye contact.
Blinking out of his daze Yugi noted the time. “Oh crap! Let’s get going before Kaiba sends us both to the afterlife.”
~~~~
Joey sniffled. “Man I didn’t know how important a tie could be.”
Atemu sighed. “Joey if I didn’t ask him out that evening, I wouldn’t be here right now, about to-” A sudden knock on the door caused both men to jump slightly.
“Who is it?” They both spoke at the same time, Joey grinning as he reached for the door knob.
“It’s just me.” Yugi’s voice spoke from behind the closed door. “But don’t open the door yet.” He said quickly just before Joey was about to open the door. “I have something for you, but Atemu, you have to close your eyes first.”
Atemu looked to Joey who just shrugged with a confused look on his face.
“Just trust me guys okay.” Yugi’s voice was so warm, having not heard it for a while, Atemu closed his eyes and nodded, motioning Joey to open the door.
With a smile on his face, dressed in a navy blue dress pants and matching jacket, a grey button up shirt underneath, and a black and white striped tie pulling it all together, Yugi entered the room. “Hey Joey.”
“Hey Yugi.”
“Everything going good?”
Atemu sighed, his eyes still closed, and a frown on his face. “I can’t seem to find my tie. I think Joey left it at the house.”
Yugi chuckled as he walked over to Atemu, who was dressed in a matching black dress pants and jacket, a white button up shirt, and of course missing a tie. Once he stood face to face with Atemu, Yugi reached into his pocket and pulled out the missing tie. “It’s your lucky day then.” He said as he draped the tie around Atemu’s neck.
“My tie.” Atemu spoke as he felt the fabric touch him. “How did you find it?”
“Tea stopped at the apartment before coming here, she had left her shoes there remember?” Yugi began to work on getting the fabric tied around Atemu’s neck as he spoke. “She saw it and knew you needed it.”
Atemu rolled his closed eyes. “Thank goodness.”
“You’ll have to thank her for sure.” Yugi turned when he heard the door click, Joey having given them a moment. “You know, the last time I did this, you asked me out on a date.”
“You’re right and it was this tie.” Atemu smiled as he felt Yugi’s palms on his chest. “So many years ago since we were reunited, seems even longer since that evening in your room.”
Yugi tilted his head. “Which evening?” He looked at Atemu as he took a step away, his hands falling from Atemu’s chest.
Atemu reached out and took Yugi’s hands and cupped them in his. “Almost ten years ago I told you that my memories meant nothing to me. That being here with you was all I wanted.” Atemu’s eyes, though closed, locked with Yugi’s, and Atemu could only hope that he felt the love coming from his soul. “I meant it when I said forever and in a few moments I will be reunited to you once again and make more vows and promises. Forever being the first and main one.”
“Atemu.” Yugi felt the tears form in his eyes but Atemu’s finger pressed on his lips.
“I will keep my promise to you Yugi. I want to be with you forever, not caring what the future holds, so long as you are there…” Atemu smiled before he pressed his lips gently against Yugi’s. “Always by my side.”
His eyes closed with the touch of Atemu’s lips on his and when he whispered those words, Yugi couldn’t help but smile. “I wouldn’t have it any other way Partner.”
“Aibou.” Atemu wrapped his arms around Yugi, pulling him as close as he could, deepening the kiss, and reuniting two hearts into one.
