That whole animal crossing philosophy thingy, where animals are nice to us because they know we're dealing with a LOT on this 'other' realm hit me too hard because I play animal crossing as an escape from my life and i just-- ahflanxkkskskak

Goldie remembers the first time she learned about humans.
One night, when Goldie was but a little puppy, she had tired of the regular bedtime stories, so she asked her mother to tell her about her life. Her mother had told Goldie about a town she used to live in, one with a human mayor. She told Goldie about the human’s charity, about how they would always fulfill the requests of the villagers. She told Goldie about the human’s drive for work, how they would run around town fishing for fish and digging up fossils and catching bugs even though nobody told the human to do so. But the thing that stuck the most was what Goldie’s mother told her about the Other Realm.
“Like another world?” Goldie gasped.
“That’s right, puppy.” Her mother laughed. Then her expression shifted into something more sad. “Humans are special creatures. They exist here, but somewhere else too at the same time.”
“Can I go there?”
“You wouldn’t want to.” Mother shook her head. “The Other Realm, it’s not like ours, where everything is soft and bright and perfect. There are problems there that we can’t possibly understand.”
“Are there monsters?” Goldie pulled her blanket close to her face.
“Certain kinds, yes.” Mother said sadly.
Goldie tilted her head. “Do the humans fight the monsters? Do they win?”
“They’re very brave,” Mother told her. “And they try their hardest.”
“We have to help them!” Goldie sat up. Mother chuckled, and gently laid Goldie back into bed, tucked safe under her blanket.
“We already do,” Mother said. She softly pet the fur on Goldie’s head. “We help by being there for them. By being kind to them.”
“When I’m older,” Goldie said. “I’m going to find a town with a human mayor and live there and I’ll be the nicest most kindest most bestest dog to them ever.”
“Oh, puppy, I know you will.” Mother pressed a soft kiss to Goldie’s forehead. “But until then, it’s time for you to sleep now.”
Goldie nodded, sleepy now after the story, and cuddled into her bed. That night, she dreamed of a beautiful island, crystal blue seas, and a human running around everywhere, pulling weeds out of the ground with a serene smile on their face.
