SimplePlay Presents Noise[Org] + P.Y.M.P. + This Is ART show preview (Where Y'at Magazine, Mar 2011)
SimplePlay Presents Noise[Org] + P.Y.M.P. + This Is ART
Friday, February 25, 10 p.m. - Blue Nile (532 Frenchmen St., 948-2583)
Dissatisfied with the confines of traditional genres and instrumentation, Noise[Org] constantly pushes the limits of music production and performance. They combine traditional band orchestration—guitar, bass, keys, drums—with some of the latest technology in electronic music production to create massive, meticulous soundscapes that laugh in the face of labels. Specially crafted light shows and stereophonic surprises further enhance their eclectic live performances. P.Y.M.P. is the electronic and hip-hop-based side project of Gravity A members Fou (drums) and Drew (keys)—a unique, uninhibited set of live dubstep and drum n' bass, with a heavy dose of silly. This Is ART is Nashville bassist and producer Art Webb, whose rich splicing of funky hip hop samples, elaborate melodic effects and filthy sub-bass riffs has proven to be quite the potent dance floor concoction.—Carolyn Heneghan
