I skipped class today (I know, it’s only my second week in this master’s program and I’m already skipping class 😭).
I did go to campus very early in the morning to go to the library and I was so, so productive. I reviewed some latin grammar and syntax and then I read 2 (two!!) whole papers about Ancient Egypt. One of them was about social exclusion, and that led me to another one about poverty, and they were both really interesting. Whenever I have some free time, I’ll write some notes in Obsidian (I’m trying to build a system there, it’s a work in progress).
I’m also very excited because I started this extracurricular course about Ancient Egyptian literature. Today was all about things I truly enjoy learning about, so it was a huge contrast with how yesterday went.
I’m trying to get better at taking pictures for this blog, so here’s a hymn for god Re I came across in a book I randomly picked up at the library today.
He’s the deity of the Sun, and the book was talking about how important the sun is to Egyptian society. The underlined part of the hymn says “Your light brings life to the hearts / when you fill the Two Lands [Egypt] with your love”.
