a part of her felt relieved that she wouldn’t have to listen to the honey haired man she had called her partner for the past three years. they made a great team, but there was a lot of bickering thrown back and forth. besides, it gave her a chance to check out this lead that she’d been chasing the pass couple of days. he was out on another case and she had been assigned to some rookie cop that she honestly could have just left in the car to keep an eye out. still, how she wound up on the fourth floor of an abandoned warehouse was a story for another day. someone had tipped them off and she was greeted by gunfire. their guy was there and elena wanted nothing more to bag him, give her something to brag about the next time they got a drink together. one rookie’s mistake though was costing her and she was running after the guy like it was their only chance. she’d been led straight to a gunfight. it was practically an ambush and elena had been hit. there was a lot of blood and her partner for the day was freaking out far too much to even get her an ambulance at this point, so elena made the call herself despite being a bit delirious from the shot itself.
“officer down on...abandoned warehouse at 32nd and taylors. currently on the fifth floor. culprit has escaped, no back up necessary at this point. shit...”
then everything was black.
