I bought Remain In Light on vinyl soon after; one of the first bought items in my record collection. I then worked backwards sporadically and bought this, their debut, from Woolworths on cassette. . This 1977 vinyl copy is a relatively recent purchase, the cassette tape eventually replaced about 30 years later. It’s very different from Remain In Light (one of my top ten albums) but its an awesome statement-making debut. Lots of wiry guitar, polyrhythmic beats and Weymouth’s funky punky bass, Talking Heads were already the cream of CBGB’s new wave scene by the time this release came out, but it was Psycho Killer one of the three singles from this album but the first one to chart, that first got them noticed beyond the Lower East Side...” .
