Qal being concerned for Josey. So adorable. Love the dialogue here. <3 He’s about to run off into the woods and fight all kinds of abominations, and all he can think about is Josephine. I love my boy...
“I’m home...”
Josephine Romance - :)
Josephine’s mind wandered as she looked up from her desk. She could hear the gentle crackle of the fireplace just a few feet away. Occasionally, there would be a stream of Inquisition diplomats walking in and out of her tiny little office. Some did little tasks for her like keeping the nobles entertained with her pre-planned designs, managing the marionette strings of her family business, or sending agents off to do more meaningful and dangerous tasks… things that at times made entire nations tremble. She knew her worth, but being cooped up in a room sometimes made her feel slightly insignificant. Still, there was usually a kind of urgency in her official diplomatic chambers.
Today, though, was particularly quiet. Her eyes weaved over the stone pattern in the wall until they rested on the heavy wooden door. Somewhere on the other side of that door was a man with deep honey-shaded skin and a strong square jaw. Gentle copper-colored eyes would smile at her gently, framed by a tattoo around his left eye. He swept her up into his world so easily, and with so much genuine love and affection that she sometimes forgot that the world was resting on his soldiers. She sometimes wondered about the things he must’ve seen out there. She worried about him every once and a while.
When Cullen’s or Leiliana’s scouts would come back with terrifying reports of unrest, assassins, or mutated soldiers, she feared for her love, the Inquisitor. She sometimes walked out to watch him from a distance when he returned to Skyhold—often dirty, and occasionally covered in blood. Many times he looked exhausted, his expression carefully masking a new pain until it scarred over in his heart. She sometimes wondered what he would say if he knew how many of his completely unguarded moments she saw. He would walk into her office with that smile, gift her with some small souvenir from a land he risked his life to save, and tell her the nicest versions of his adventures he could muster—leaving out as many horrible details as he could. But she knew the truth. If she asked Cassandra to tell the same story later, it was filled with pain, death, and abominations.
Josey watched as a moth fluttered in a corner of the room, making a brilliant shadow in the sunlight against the wall. And then the ray of sunlight and the moth’s shadow disappeared into an even bigger shadow as the door clicked open heavily. Leather boots echoed on the stone floor as a man with black hair and honey-shaded skin rounded the corner. He was arrestingly handsome with the angular edges of his face and the softness of his smooth skin. His lips teased and his eyes observed endlessly. Wisdom rested silently on his brow.
“Lord Trevelyan, it’s good to see you,” Josephine smiled warmly.
And with a loving twinkle in his eyes, the Inquisitor smiled back, “Josephine, I’m home.”
