. . . synopsis: drowsy husband!hugo is a clingy bastard and wants his lovely spouse in his arms but they’re busy so he takes matters in his own hands

“Mmh, come here.” Hugo drawls with a lazy smirk, beckoning you with the allure of his demeanor and appearance— blond hair ruffled with drowsiness, pale indigo tie hanging limply around his neck; exposing the smooth and pale expanse of his chest, highlighting his effortless sensuality with every sluggish move he makes.
You glance over at your husband, eyes narrowing into slits as you catch onto that scheming smirk on his handsome face. Alluring, but impish all the same.
He has to have something up his sleeve.
You’re aware of Hugo's behavior. Aware of how he’s more than ready to pull every dirty trick under the sun if it means he gets his way, and with how his smoldering gaze is burning holes through your exhausted face and the stack of documents in your arms?
He isn’t going to let up anytime soon.
“Must you be unreasonable?” He sprawls his body on the mattress, blond hair curling around his form like an irresistible yet intricate spider web, begging to lure his beautiful partner to take refuge in his arms where they’re meant to reside. “You must be utterly exhausted my dear, care to indulge your loving husband in the comfort of our shared bed?”
He pats the empty space beside him, caressing the empty spot reserved for you as he stares you down, acting every part of the irresistible siren.
He knows what he’s doing. Where’s the harm in weaponizing his desire for his lovely spouse to his advantage? “It’s getting late, surely you’ll set those measly papers aside tonight?”
He sighs dramatically. “For me?”
“No can do,” You say as you jog the stacks of documents evenly, not missing the low whine of displeasure from the other side of the bedroom. “Duty calls, I’m sure you’ll understand.”
He tries to bite back his sulkiness, incapable of stifling his pout. “Perhaps.”
“I was married to my work long before you came along, you know that right? Old habits die hard.” You glance back at him, smiling at his little pout— his little fangs making an appearance.
Seeing his little pout made your heart all warm and gooey on the inside, almost malleable with how he was staring at you like you were the center of his monochrome world.
Unfortunately for you, those documents won’t finish themselves. I cannot afford to fall for his manipulation.
Hugo huffs. “Do I have to beg to get an ounce— no. A scrap of your attention?” He props his cheek on his palm, fluttering his lashes each time your eyes settle on his for longer than a millisecond. “You wound me, irrevocably so!”
His sulkiness didn’t prolong its stay. Not until he saw you fail to pick up your trusty pen, your fingers twitching between picking up the pen and reaching in his direction.
The corner of his lips stretched into a Cheshire-like grin as he caught onto your hesitation marinating in the air, duty and the desire to succumb to your husband’s whims wrestling each other to wield control. Your hands hovering awkwardly over the pile of documents now situated on your desk.
“What now? Finally having second thoughts?”
You didn’t respond, knowing whatever rejection you have at the tip of your tongue, ready to fire whenever Hugo tries to beckon you towards temptation seemed to have dulled out. Rendering your poor attempts of resistance futile under the phantom thief's ruthless persistence.
Capitalizing on your hesitation, Hugo opens his arms, his mismatched eyes burning with a desire to smother you in the coldness of his embrace. He knows you're watching from the corner of your eyes, it won’t be long before you crash in his arms. “Hm? Barely realizing the agony you’re currently putting me through?”
“It has been five minutes Hugo, what do you mean agony—”
“Tut-tut-tut, (Name). None of this,” He sighs, gesturing with a languid tilt of his head, motioning you to come closer, waiting eagerly like a venus fly trap slowly closing in on its prey. “Why prolong your much needed rest when it’s calling out for you like a siren’s song?”
“It won’t go away no matter what you do, might as well succumb to your exhaustion.”
He tilts his head at you like a clueless puppy. “Soo…?” He clicks his tongue. “What’s the next course of action tonight?”
“Continue denying yourself the luxury of resting in your dear husband’s arms or are you going to slave away for the entirety of the night—”
A soft oomph escapes his lips upon feeling your limp body drape over his, your exhaustion oozing out of your being, so palpable he could feel it close in on him.
He shakes his head.
“Does this answer your question?” You murmur against his chest, appreciating the extra cushion his chest seemed to provide, the cooling sensation of his skin coaxing your eyes to close with gentle pressure. “It better.”
He closes his arms around your form, weak from the intense labor this entire week has put you through. “Ah, I'm glad you’re able to see the errors of your ways~” He coos near your ear, pressing slow and fleeting kisses on your earlobe before inching his way up to the crown of your head.
“What’s that supposed to mean—”
He silences you with yet another sweet kiss to your head, making a show of nuzzling his nose against your hair affectionately. Smiling against your scalp. “Nothing, my darling~”
“Rest now, let’s see what tomorrow has in store for us lovebirds~”
