Please don't spray or pull the spring dandelions, they're one of the first sources of food for bees! 🐝🌍 #savethebees #beekeeper #qbhive
HALLOWEEN IS OVER ! ....bees chase away bats. circa 2013. Apis dorsata Chasing a Fruit Bat -Uttar Pradesh, India: ~ FOLLOW: Historical Honeybee Articles - Beekeeping History Indian Fruit Bats are social animals that roost together in large noisy colonies. These bats roost in large trees which have spreading branches, a single roosting site may have a hundred or more individuals. Apis dorsata, the giant honeybee of India, also prefers to build nests in large trees which have spreading branches. Occasionally, a colony of fruit bats may choose a tree to roost which harbors colonies of Apis dorsata. The Chase: Driving from the Ghaghra River toward Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, India, I noticed a huge cloud of around 300 or 400 bats that began to scatter in all directions. It was only when I zoomed in that I realized that the flying mammals were being chased by honey bees. Eventually some of the bats settled on nearby trees with the bees hovering around Credit: Satpal Singh - National Geographic Photo Contest #girlslikeus #honeybee #happyhalloween #bees #bee #qbhive https://igg.me/at/3menk5A7s7E
