UPDATE: QLiC Press spoke with the Britney Cosby's family today. They provided more details about the tragic deaths of Britney and her girlfriend, Crystal Jackson. In addition to asking for information that will lead to an arrest, the family has also asked for the public’s assistance with funeral arrangements. They're up against a tight deadline. Our hearts go out to the families of Brittney Cosby and Crystal Jackson who were murdered in Texas over the weekend. Their vigil will take place on March 12th, 2014 at 7pm. Black HERstory Month: Ruth Ellis (1899-2000) lived to be 101 and was widely known as the oldest living lesbian in history. She was born in Springfield,Illinois and came out as a lesbian at around the age of 16. She and long-time partner, "Babe" Franklin moved in together in 1937 and remained a couple for over 30 years before eventually separating. Their Home often served as a place of refuge for gays and lesbians who needed it. Ellis became a staunch advocate for the rights of gay and lesbians as well as African-Americans and worked at her dream of equality until her death. A documentary called, Living with Pride:Ruth C.Ellis @ 100 celebrates her life and activism. The "Ruth Ellis Center" in Detroit honors Ellis by catering to homeless LGBTQ youth, providing an extension to the services Ellis once offered in her own home.
