Chapter 2 We Keep on Running (Ice) Summary: 

 The chaos of the fight against White Album has just wound down, giving Giorno time to process everything that has just happened. But with such a tight timeframe to get to the Boss, he can’t really justify relaxing enough to spend time understanding his feelings. Things keep on coming, and they don’t have time to stop running long enough to rest at the moment.

Excerpt:

It’d been a long morning for the both of them. While Mista hadn’t been the one who’d driven through the early hours of the night, he’d been alert on watch, and he’d talked to Giorno to keep him from nodding off behind the wheel. Aside from that, Giorno knew how tiring it was to heal. His own arm was still healing, his sleeve torn where his flesh had been mangled. At least Mista wasn’t trying to wander around, the moment’s rest would give his wounds some time to finish closing up.

He glanced up to watch as the sunlight started to peek over the top of a building, illuminating Mista’s face in gentle golden light. His brow was sweaty, glittering in the sun. The blood on his skin shone gruesomely crimson in splattered patches that had yet to dry.

The sight unsettled him, making something in his stomach churn. The realization hit him, of just how concerned about Mista he was, and the strength of the feeling caught him off guard. Rationally, he knew Mista would be fine, as he’d just healed him personally. But he couldn’t seem to shake the feeling with logic alone.

With all that had happened in the last two days, it wouldn’t be helpful for him to get overly attached. It would be altogether too easy for Mista to die during their confrontation with the boss, however that went down, given Mista’s propensity for being a bullet sponge.

Despite knowing all of that, he couldn’t help but hope that Mista would survive. They’d been an effective team so far, and it’d been a pleasant surprise that Mista had saved him after his miscalculation in the canal. That display of dedication and loyalty, as undeserving of it as Giorno was, had saved his life.

Quarter Past Midnight: Dan gets his hair shaved off and is left in an abandoned house, goes to a fun party, wakes up bleeding in a tub full of ice, wakes up in a Satanic circle (twice), hangs out with some drag queens, wakes up in a gross bathroom, gets bitch slapped, gets arrested, gets lost in a city

Doom Days: Dan gets a black eye

Those Nights: Dan is lamenting about one-night-stands on a moldy couch surrounded by half-naked, unconscious people

Joy: The band and Bim have a great time singing around London. Adorable to say the least.

Bad Decisions: Dan is a doctor with really bad hair who advises people to kill other people that they see themself in, who gets killed by Dan as a waiter, who gets killed by Dan as a criminal, who gets killed by Dan as an old man, who gets killed by Dan as a psychic

Types of People: Singles from Bastille

Happier: Worn out hoodies, hiding pain behind a smile, scuffed shoes, tries their best, tousled hair, longing looks, low self esteem, cold fingers but warm touches, fears change, old shirts, sad on a sunny day, a bit self destructive.

Grip: Wistful smiles, falls in love easily, long conversations at night, constantly changing their minds, wild hair, faded jeans, gives great hugs, pours feelings into letters, spiraling thoughts, faint music in the dark, a bit self depreciating.

Quarter Past Midnight: Loud laughter, wild thoughts, city lights, driving fast on an empty road, worn out sneakers, dancing with strangers, vintage jackets, not afraid to make a spectacle, reckless abandon, young at heart, a bit lost in life.

World Gone Mad: Heavy boots, notices a lot of details, ripped jeans, dark humor, outspoken, wears all black, wants to change the world, tends to forget to take care of themselves, seems angry but actually tired, a bit of a martyr.

Hangin’: Leather jackets, sharp laugh, smokes a lot, never forgive and never forget, biting words, bruised knuckles, actually has a good sense of justice, studded belts, doesn’t know their limit, boundless energy, a bit vindictive.

No One’s Here To Sleep: Black coffee, cynical view of life, bags under the eyes, rough hands, feels like falling behind, driving alone on a highway, old sweaters, waiting for the sun to rise, strict on themselves, a bit insecure.

I Know You: Lingering touches, drinks too much alcohol, singing loudly in a crowd, secretly lonely, confident strut, spends a lot of time on the things they love, bright shirts, black sunglasses, easy to please, a bit messy sometimes.
