Always proud of you ♥️💪🏼 #Repost @thecqi with @make_repost ・・・ What can Q Processing 1 do for you? Dylan Thome tells us a little about his Q journey. "I started in coffee managing a drive-thru espresso business. Eventually, I got very curious about the specialty coffee industry, roasting, and origins. In 2015, while working for a small roaster I had the opportunity to visit a coffee origin for the first time and even did some picking and processing experiments of my own. A year later I took my Q-Arabica Grader and when the Q Processing course came out I couldn't wait for the opportunity to take it. Last year, my wife Maria Esther Lopez (AST) and I opened Coffea School, a training facility and lab in Miami, FL. We offer the SCA Coffee Skill Program curriculum, and hopefully CQI courses as well in the future! Our instructor was very knowledgeable and well equipped, the QP1 course was beneficial in so many ways. First, obviously, you go in depth about how the different processing techniques vary and why that has an impact on flavor profiles. Secondly, how farmers' unique positions will greatly influence how they decide to process their coffees. Third we were given skills on how to communicate about processing with others and how that can be especially complex when there are language barriers and differences in nomenclature across different regions. It was all very interesting and I was surprised at some of the misnomers we discovered! I would recommend QP1 to anyone who works in coffee. A barista who wants to know more about where their coffee comes from, a roaster who wants to know more about the impacts that different processing methods have on flavor, or a producer who wants to develop or expand their techniques." . . .
