Inspired by the post I just reblogged...
Reasons why QR code menus are cool, actually:
People with vision problems can use dark mode, larger fonts, zoom, screen readers, and other accessibility tools to read a menu that they might otherwise struggle with.
People who aren't fluent in the language the menu is written in can use translation tools.
In many cases the layout of the menu is simplified, which makes them more accessible for vision impaired people, plus folks with other conditions that cause reading difficulties, including dyslexia and ADHD.
You can bookmark the menu and look at it in advance before going to the restaurant again, which helps if you have dietary restrictions to work around, or need extra time to make a choice (for any reason).
You don't have to worry about not being able to pronounce the name of the dish you want, you can just order it.
People who are non-verbal, have speech impediments, or have a substantial difference in accent can order for themselves.
Online menus often have more detailed dish descriptions because printing costs aren't an issue.
Hygiene! You know where your phone has been. And though you probably trust the staff to serve you safe food, physical menus can be very unhygienic.
For clarity: there needs to also be a physical menu and the ability to order without using the QR code, because otherwise it's disabling and disadvantaging a whole other bunch of people. But having the option of using a digital menu and online ordering is fucking brilliant.
